I want to know how often do you help the old people who look for someone's hands to help them whether to cross roads or any other thing. I see many people just stare at the helpless elders on roads but they don't even try to help them. I think there should be a rule to be followed that ""HELP ELDERS""..this makes sense right..now tell me do you help elders who are helpless.

Yeah, as far as I am concerned, I think it is a very nice moment for us to discuss the help here. I think it will be very good for us to help others who in need of help. But sometimes we help the old, then what happened to us. The old will just say that it is we who have hit her or him down on the road. I think we all will be confused by this moment.

It is an interesting topic
Helping elder people or older people or old people ?
Necessarily it revolves round the word "help" and too people who are
"old"
Well now it is a specific
well it must be said that one who is young must get old
As such older people are the future of the young
And ,in a way by helping the old the young are helping themselves as they are inculcating habit of helping the elders in the young so that when they become old they get help from the younger people
thus in a way younger ones are helping themselves in the long run
So helping others or older people is just like helping our own self
We mus as humans help those who are in the need of help otherwise we shall ceas3ee to be humans and shall fall inn the category of barbarians living for themselves and not caring for others
Care for others is a special attribute of the humans
It is a humane quality which needs furthering in the minds and acts of the younger generation so that it may benefit them when they are themselves old
We in India call it "Sanskara" that is programming the human mind in its most impressionable stage with such good qualities worthy of being a human and that sets apart the culture in the world as how one treats the helpless or wweaake ones in the society of humans
So help help help always whether old or young weaker or strong because it benefits you in the long run
Help is divine quality it lead you near to GOD
So Amen Help all specially old and febrile fragile

I haven't experienced crossing a street with an elder in need of help.

I am myself a senior citizen. Still I always make it to see that people in need of any help, let it be elders, handicapped, blind or anyone for that matter, are helped by me in my capacity. Yesterday I went to some temple kumbabhishekam (Pouring sanctified water on the temple tower). Wooden steps were arranged to go up to reach the tower and come back. One young lady was feeling giddy after coming down. I swirled my saree edge (pallu) and made her get some air.

It feels good to help anyone when needed. I look for elder people on the traffic signal and try to help them to the possible extend. May not be helping them directly by holding their hand and then crossing the road. I usually look for them and cover them while they are crossing the road so that they are confident enough to move. I feel very happy when I help someone in any way whether it’s a elder person or a child. It’s a great felling inside which gives some satisfaction of doing good to society or an individual.
Keep helping people around you :-)

Due to how frantic life is where I live, I rarely see Elder people that are "helpless" walking around the streets. Which is odd considering how often I hear people talk about helping old people cross the road. I walk around a lot too.

Yes i do help elders. I remember I help one crossing on the road. SHe was holding bags and not just bags but heavy bags. I feel good after doing it. I felt that is my purpose that is why I went to work early that morning to help her. She said thank you and I said welcome grandma. It really makes us feel good when we help other people without nothing in return. Moreover, it is dangerous if a grand parent will have a heavy baggage whenever they travel. It is bad for their situation. I hope they have company.

Hello there. I think it depends on the country you belong. As a Filipino and who are currently residing in the province it is normal for us to help people who are in need of assistance especially the elders when it comes to crossing the street, assisting elders in riding cab or in jeepney(local transportation). But not all people in my city do this but in general we do help especially in elders. My heart is weak especially when it comes to elders because i know I'll be old too and I want the next generation have respect to elders. Often in my place when some cab/jeepney drivers has no respects to elders we as passengers often talked, complain and scolded them to have some respect because in time they will also get old.
