Earning on myLot without referrals : Quantity or Quality?

OK, so I thought of this after reading two discussion posts from two different myLotters.
One, was asking if he should give it up cos it was earning him only 2 cents after responding to many posts.
Second, was talking about a guy who kinda ticks her off because that guy only starts discussions and never responds (or responds back) to his own posts. And that got me wondering if that guy was earning. (as opposed to the first guy)
I, myself, am new here and have yet to cash out my first MyLot earnings check. Until then I can only try to explore and I must say I am enjoying it because I am not in here primarily for the money. But of course I would like to earn more of course. :)
So now I ask, how DO you really earn in here? Do you post a lot of simple answers? Or post longer and detailed answers?
Do you really need referrals that much?

Welcome to myLot meowcow!
How to earn on myLot is not a secret. MyLot tell us exactly what should be done if we want to earn and those who have taken time to read and understand the FAQs are not astonished when they earn a small amount or a higher amount because they were expecting it after their participation the previous day.
Basically, if you type then you will earn. If you type quality and your posts are within the Guidelines you will earn more. If you participate and are actively discussing then you will be a happy Lotter because myLot is a discussion site not, as some users seem to misunderstand, a question and answer site.
If you see a user disappointed with a small amount for many posts you can be certain that they have not understood that earnings are based on myLot's time zone which is not the same as that of many others.
Those users who start topics, receive responses and then do not go back and comment are not using myLot for what it was intended - discussions. Those of us who respond on a topic and then never hear back from the user who created it are disappointed because we responded hoping for interaction.
All the explanations about what to do here can be found in the FAQs and I suggest that you start here:

My sentiments exactly. That was the advice I gave to Person A. I said just be active polite respectful and have fun with it. I also told him to just have fun with it instead of focusing on the money because I believe you'll succeed more here if you just do it for the fun of it. Ironic and weird I know but don't you agree? :) I am interested about the referrals part of the question though. Do you have a lot? Do referrals make that big of a difference? Thanks for your response and thanks for the warm welcome I appreciate it! ^^

I was cruising some other discussions after Iposted this and I saw a response that you posted was along the lines of the advice that I gave youhere in my responses, therefore I can see that you have already understood what myLot is all about! I absolutely agree that having fun is what it is all about and earnings increase when you don't think about them at all.
Referrals make a difference and I have several but only a few post regularly. Sadly acrive referrals are very difficult to acquire and only when they are active can we see a difference in our earnings. Since the recent upgrade when you gain a referral it is now possible to contact them because they are immediately added to yur friend list. This means that we can welcome them and let them know that they are not alone here. If that feature had been available in the past then some that I acquired months ago might not have just joined and left without posting. I have seen the difference with those that have joined since this has been added.

Many others would certainly get an insight to how to go aout things by reading here but, and this is also sad too, there are many Lotters who think that reading is a waste of time and serves no purpose whatsoever. You will notice it too when you start a discussion and there is bound to be a response that is completely off-topic because the user who responded only had time to read the title
This is the reason why there are so many one line topics too. Too many are convinced that they earn for each post and they have no idea that it is the quality of their post that counts.
I wish you luck in gaining some active referrals and if it happens, maybe you can pass on your tips

Depending on the type of discussion being brought up, I would response appropriately. I would always try to expand upon the discussion to make quality discussions. But sometimes, there just isn't much things to elaborate upon. I think sometimes the earnings will just arrive much later so as long as you response appropriate, you would get paid for your effort.

Yes, I agree that is definitely true. Everything will accumulate in time. Like I said as I advised one member, just have fun and don't look at the numbers. Problem is I guess most people don't have the patience, everything now is so much 'instant gratification'. I do hope the new members get the earning system and how it's just a compliment to the information and fruitful conversations we have here in myLot, rather than just posting a line to earn some cents. Know what I mean? I prefer quality AND quantity btw. I love the MyLotters who put up such great topics and put up such clear and concise replies. :) Thanks for your response and happy myLotting to you, my friend much appreciated!

Quality over quantity that should always be the case here in MyLot. Even if you already have 1000 posts but you only give a 1 liner response I'm sure that you'd be far from cash out. I have not yet reached the cash our but I think I can do that this month. And I'm quite excited about it. I had been active again only for 3 months now and in fact I couldn't even log in everyday because of my other activities. But in my part I like to share thoughts here and the money just come extra. It's like an icing on the cake. Good luck to you meowcow.

That's so true that's what I've been posting on those other discussions. That they should put their heart into their answers and postings, and just have fun with it and don't even look at the earnings. It IS a fun site and the earnings ARE just a bonus, I completely agree with you. :) Thanks for your response and good luck to you too! ^^

Hello meowcow me too earlier when joined mylot was having many doubts about mylot earnings and its reliability. But now have total trust on mylot its members, its working and all stuff.Actually joined mylot on my friends request to enjoy some quality time as well to earn a few bucks at mylot. And yes it did wonders for me.As mine spare time was used for some good purpose.Well think at mylot all the earnings are two ways, means both mylotters will receive cash and reputation for posting and responding any post.Anyways keep it up with your mylotting.Happy mylotting.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, checkmail. :) I had doubts myself, or at least didn't totally understand or appreciate the mechanics of it all. Maybe that is why it took me a year just to finally start being active. Been a member a year now and active for 3 weeks. Earning pretty well also without referrals just having fun. :) Anyway, yes I am with you I love myLot and its members now too! ^^ Great insightful and comprehensive responses such as yours. Happy myLotting to you too, friend, and thanks for your response!

I think it is very challenging to earn good money without referrals.. and also it is depend on your quality posting.. and quantity is also important.. so if you give equality in your posting with quantity.. then it is effected on your earnings.. good day..

I'm with you on this one. I have zero referrals and frankly, I have no idea how to get active referrals. I'm doing ok on my own by my book though. Just quality posts and responses you are right. I don't even feel the need to dabble in topics I don't like cos I'm not pressured to 'just make money off this site'. I'd rather just use it casually like I'm doing now and enjoy my discussions. :) Quantity and quality does have some balance to it when it comes to responding and posting. I've come to find that out after a whole weekend day of myLotting. Got hooked lol! Thanks for your advice, anurag. Good day to you too!

[b]I am convinced that this site tells us exactly how to earn money. Everything is written in the FAQs. They may give more or less for doing something but they did not explained it exactly because everyone would do the one which makes the most and that is the most profitable - and I don't think the whole site would be used. That way now we discuss, make friends, complete tasks, edit interests, write personal messages and even use the search engine and that is the whole purpose of the site and that for what we are paid - for using the site, participating and being online. I think everything we need to know is in the FAQs.

Have a nice myLotting

Yes that is true. Usage of the site properly will get you paid properly. Unfortunately, most people don't bother with FAQs. The first two questions were more for the new myLotters I've been seeing. They have been posting that they are not earning as much. Myself, I am happy with my results and I'd like to think I have a good grasp of what it takes to earn around here. Now I'm just more interested on how much the referrals are helping you earn. :) Thanks for your response!

himeowcow I was here two years ago for the earnings primarily then got so much fun and such wonderful friends I was just addicted to mylot and you know what the more I responded to others and commented back to ther responses of other the better I earned and was not even thinking of that so much as wondering how so and so was, and if such and such had got that job finally , these people be came real friends to me, and I w as having so much fun here too. I am retired thats why I have such a large number then have been here around two years, mylot has been a lifesaver as I was so bored here with all that time on my hands, now I am back on the net and enjoying it so much. and no I do not have any referrals as I do not r eally need them.I earn by posting quality rather than quantity responses, comments and discussions. I always try to make anything I post at lest four or five lines long so as to make it understandable and hopefully interesting too. good luck you will earn more as you start to really enjoy it here.

I don't have any referrals and I am earning and reaching payout every month. I am active and I do participate in discussions, and I do post quality, as that is what mylot asks of us. We don't all earn the same here, as it does depend on our posts and our participation. You do need to be active and participate to earn. When a person starts a discussion and doesn't comment back, then that person won't earn, as we are are only paid for what we do, and not the activity of others. In fact, it is in our best interest to comment back, if we want to earn. I have seen others post discussions and just leave them, and not comment back. It is a big waste of time for them to even start one if they aren't going to follow up. I think they feel they don't have to comment back, as they will earn on the responses they receive, but it just doesn't work that way. Users like that will figure it out someday that they won't earn, unless they comment back. As far as referrals are concerned, there really is no guarantee that they will be active, so maybe it is better not to have any and do it ourselves anyway. good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Me too! I don't have any referrals as I've discovered it is hard to find a referral for a site like this who will remain active cos he or she will have to be really interested in posting and reading. Even reading the FAQs is such a task already for some people. I am a newbie here and have still yet to get my first payout but nonetheless I am enjoying myself and earning ok for a noob I think.^^ But yeah everyone earns differently, I'm more on just focusing on making quality discussion topics and responding and being polite about it. Enjoying yourself is definitely the key I guess mostly for me I'm just wondering how the referrals are doing. :) Thanks for the advice and happy myLotting to you as well!

Yeah it does seem like if you get it, then you get it. 92 cents in 4 days might not seem much to some people but it seems pretty ok to me if you're having fun anyway. I mean, I don't hear Facebook paying people who are addicted to them. Know what I mean. I haven't tried getting referrals it seems awfully too much effort to find someone who'll be active. Cos referrals are only good when they actually know the site and like it and actually use it. Nonetheless, good luck with your hunting and earning here in myLot! I hope to reach payout soon too. :)
