How many of us think that this exercise by myLot is an attempt to mimick the widely acclaimed yahoo campaign of Y! answers (http://www.answers.yahoo.com). They give points for answers and best answers earns maximum points. But they are of no help / benefit to the guy who writes page after page of his/her wisdom as a response to any question in almost every area of life and death.
I personally feel myLot has a edge over yahoo answers. Do you agree or not. Please enlighten me.

Hey there, looks like your discussion got lost in the shuffle.
There are some definite similarities between myLot and Yahoo Answers, that's for sure. But I wouldn't say that myLot mimick's Yahoo necessarily.
myLot is young, and I have a feeling they're trying to develop into more than a simple question/answer website. The revenue model is proof of that.
If we're comparing the two, personally I think Yahoo Answers has the edge right now since it's been around much longer, has a much larger following, and is backed by a giant (Yahoo).
But myLot is much more exciting to me, and I see a lot more potential. If we circle back and have this discussion 6 months from now, I have a feeling that myLot will have closed the gap, and won't look nearly as much like Yahoo Answers.
At any rate, welcome to myLot! We'd love to see you around posting more!

Yup, you asre right. Yahoo answers is a lot more complicated. Comparisons between yahoo answers and mylot wud be extraneous. I had a pretty wierd experience with Yahoo Answers and I unsubscribed from it in a couple of days!!! And getting paid for ur answers on Yahoo is a lot of bunk!!! I have not come across anyone getting paid for one and I have quite a few of my friends on it. Pay for answers, it sure is a no, no!!!! Mylot pays for anyhting meaningful which is more sensible and reasonable. hats off, mylot!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!

There’s one major difference; MyLot pay, which at the end of the day is a lot more beneficial than a point system. I think MyLot is in it’s most basic form at the moment, it has the potential to go and start great things which is why it needs the support of the users, without us; it’s nothing.
I think the graphics and presentation could be spruced up, along with server issues with bandwidth fixed, although they're just minor fickle compliants.

I think it only lack categories. I think there should be a HUGE amount of categories for placing a question. I also think there should be categories for TOWNS and counties to allow locals to meet eachother. The best thing of this site is you can post a follow up to your own question.
A little cleaning and site design will work wonders. I am a fan of less is more though just a little colors may help.

Please, this seems totally different! If anything is an attempt at mimicing Yahoo Answers look to Lycos IQ, what a load of crap. I have been here only 20 minutes, so alot of you might not think I have the "right to comment" but I own internet forums and can see instantly when a place is going to explode in a good way or explode in a bad way and die, the 2nd will not be happening here!!!

I think myLot has the advantage because they are offering us compensation for our efforts and time. Time is money, right? I noticed on Yahoo that people will often choose the shortest, least informative, and "funny" answers for best answer, instead of someone who really put a lot into helping them.
I really like the 'comment feature' myLot offers, but I do wish they would make things more organized and categorized like Yahoo. I'd still choose myLot over Yahoo anyday!
I came here from Yahoo!Answers. They made me mad, so I am giving them the silent treatment now. My story is here: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/47182.aspx

I have never posted on Yahoo so I really don't know how the two compare. I have posted on sites that paid you to post. Some seem to work for awhile, then they don't pay and end up closing down. I hope that doesn't happen here.

I think they both encourage kind of discussions in order to generate more visitors and users. The main difference was myLot pay you for what you contribute and yahoo answer give you some points. Personally I don't like yahoo answer cause I found the users there like to make abuse reports whether you are rude or not. I don't know how many have the same bad experience with me??
