People tend to feel hungrier and eat more when they are deprived of adequate sleep and thus, those who are trying to stay trim should sure they get adequate sleep.
A number of studies have linked shorter sleep duration with higher body mass index (BMI) - a measure of weight in relation to height used to gauge whether someone is overweight.
I read about many actors that they sleep for 3-4 hours and that is enough, is that so?, I believe that we should sleep for 6-8 hours daily which will help us to be healthy and fit.
I sleep for 7 hours daily and seem enough for me. Also, on weekends I sleep for 8-9 hours as its party time.
How much time do you spend on sleep?

Oh...i have an inadequate sleep, i always sleep for 10 hours. I think this makes me feel tired all the time even i have enough sleep. Thanks for your information, i should really change my sleeping habit now for my health purpose.
Honestly, i really don't think 3-4 hours sleeping time would be enough, i don't know why some people can stand this, but if i were them, i would be very tired during the day time. But as i know, some people do really have sleeping problem that they cannot fall asleep after few hours sleep time.
Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

Thanks for the info. Inadequate sleep(too much longer or too short) has bad effects on people. You mentioned some actors who only need to sleep for 3 or 4 hours, which i believe is not a scientific way of sleeping. Studies have already shown that adults need to take 7 to 8 hours sleep to ensure that they have enough energy and vitality to cope with their work. I usually sleep 7 hours a day, which seems enough for me. The most significant thing about sleeping is that we should go to bed early at night. It is recommended that we go to bed before 11pm. Staying up is never a wise idea. Those who sleep as long as 9 to 10 hours a day but still lack of energy is mainly due to their staying up and getting up too late.

Hi,there.Usually I have about 8 hours in the night. But I am used to get take a nap at lunch and it 's about half and an hour.So you see,I do have a bad habit. But I just feel tired if I don't sleep at that time. And I feel hungry sometime when I wake up ,maybe inadeguate sleep is responsible for this.

Yeah I've noticed that too, when I do all-nighters for a paper or for work I end up munching and nibbling and just eating a whole lot throughout the whole day. I've read that it has to do with the stress hormone cortisol - apparently when a person lacks sleep the levels of cortisol rise up in the body. Since the body is primed for a stressful situation, it tends to want to eat more rich, calorie-packed food.
To counteract this what I do when I lack sleep and am cranky and hungry is I try to exercise for at least 30 minutes. It can be just brisk walking or jogging or going up and down the stairs but it works for me. I get to release the stress and it relieves the hunger pangs as well. Plus I get to have a very good night's sleep afterwards.
Oh yeah and to answer your question, on work days I sleep about 4-5 hours and on days off I sleep for as much as 10 hours. Talk about making up for sleep debt hehe.
