For the usual and everyday communication, i'll go for email as the message can come across really fast. Email is appropriate when you want an info almost real-time. As for the snail mail, I'd prefer to use that on special occasions for special loved-ones. I remember when my best friend was in Dubai for vacation, aside from greeting her online on her birthday I sent her a birthday card thru snail mail days before that and she was surprised and happy to have received it. She said she really appreciated my effort and felt really special.

I personally prefer email for many reasons. Most of them is because the postal service is so messed up these days it is not even funny. You might send out the letter and it might make it there, it might not, but there is always that chance that I do not like to take. At least with email it is more likely it will get there on time and it could get responded to. Of course, I understand that regular postal mail does have a more personal feel. On special occasions it can be nice to receive a letter in the mail but at the same time, there are times where it is more trouble than its worth. It really depends on your experiences and if you feel like its worth it, then go for it. If not, then stick to emails, especially if they seem to be more reliable.

i prefer email because at 57 cents per stamp, it can get pretty expensive to send snail mail. i only send snail mail if they dont have a computer.

It has to be snail mail for me... I think that snail is just more personal than email, and yeah you can send little gists or something with your letter. Also its much nicer to receive a nice letter through the post rather than bills for a change. I have penpals and I love that I get letters through my door. Email is ok, if you want to get a message to someone quick, but it has not got that personal feel to it.

You can't beat a letter on paper that you know your loved one has handled (and maybe his scent lingers still) and has written with his own hand (rather than pressing little buttons on a keyboard). Emails and texts are good for communication and maybe online chat has a certain instancy that weaves its own magic. Just remember, though, that in the days before airplanes and the Internet, a letter may have taken months to reach its destination and each communication, perhaps written and cross-written to save paper and weight, was treasured as much as, if not more than, the faded and creased photos from home. These days it is so easy to send and receive an email and almost as easy to dial a number and speak to someone 9000 miles away as if they were in the next room. There is still a magic and a specialness to a letter that drops through the letterbox.

Although electronic mail is instant and you can say what you want quickly, I really do like handwritten letters, they are much more personal and feel much more special than an email.

Today the email already replaced the snail mail for me. I don't send a mail unless I want to send a package. Otherwise the email is good enough to communicate with each other. It is fast and it won't cost any charges. I love China

I used to write a lot of snail mail letters. When I was younger I had a lot of penpals from around the world, and we communicated via snail mail letters. I liked to decorate the letters with pictures, stickers and quotes and I liked writing letters by hand I still send and receive snail mail letters every once in a while, but not as often as I used to. Now I often choose to write an email instead, it is faster and easier, but it is not as unique as a handwritten letter, and sometimes it is nice to send a handwritten letter.

I agree. I think sending mail to your loved ones are much more special and meaningful than sending emails. But people nowadays prefer emailing because it's much more convenient and it saves them the cost of stamps.

Hi Eiramannabustillo, I actually prefer letters, but I can't find anyone who will write them back lol. I was meant to be writing to my sister and the mother of someone I used to know, but my sister took a month to get back to me, and the other one vanished into space which isn't promising in terms of future letter exchanges! E-Mails are useful and I like them to pass the time with and get quick updates from people, but they aren't great in the re-collective part of experiences. I don't really read through my e-mails to remember events, while with letters it would be so much easier to just find them in a shoe box and read them before I went to sleep or something. Alas I think I was born at the wrong age to exchange snail mail with people now, as much as I may want to lol All the best, Dranz

I have to admit that I am a huge fan of email, infact I cannot remember the last time I sent anything by snail mail. Of course it is nicer to send a real letter, but not many of us have the time now a days to sit down with a pen and piece of paper. I couldn't even tell you how much a first class stamp costs today either. It is such a shame really.

if it's the personal touch that we are looking for, i would go for snail mail. feelings are not shown at all in emails (at least not all). though the message is getting across, it lacks the connection that we are looking for in a relationship.
