I just don't get it way do people like to listen to rap music. I mean...in my opinion... rap music does not have any meaning or even a nice tune unlike other genre like ballads, pop, country and even trance (although some of you might hate trance) they have meaning in the lyrics and a nice tune or beat. Kinda weird, i really don't get it but somehow i like Kanye West - Homecoming and stronger and maybe FloRida and Timbaland but other artist kinda sucks(in my opinion). So if any of you out there love or hate rap music please share with us the reason why.

You know, I can really justify listening to any kind of music but rap is something that I never really got. Then again, there are many things that I never got or really liked that always seemed to be popular. Yet the funny thing about rap is it is a very polarizing topic. There are two groups of people I have found regarding rap. Those who enjoy listening to it and those who absolutely hate it and see it as one of the worst mediums of music imaginable. To me rap is just seems like a bunch of indistinguishable noises. With other versions of music, I can easily get entire verses of a song or even entire songs stuck in my head. Not much so with rap. Perhaps this is for the best but I just tend to ignore rap for the most part. I do think that the people who blare at full volume when going down the street is the most annoying part about it.

hi MasterChief, it's really all a matter of personal taste. I love music and I prefer to listen to rock. When I'm home, that is usually what I have on. I do however change things up and listen to other things at times depending on my mood. I don't care for a lot of the rap but my daughter listens to it sometimes and I have to admit that there is some that isn't too bad at all. I don't think you can really in all fairness say that any one genre is bad. Each genre has some that I like and some that I don't.

First of all I too look for the meaning of the song.. In the starting, I use to get mad listening to Michael Jackson songs, the reason is his speed of singing of some songs..Later I use to see the lyrics on paper and listen to his songs, since then I started loving his songs and became fan of the Pop legend. Rap is also something which makes crazy if we listen but I love Shaggy songs and Black eyed peas. You are right some songs have no meaning but still the beat of songs attract me to rap. I listen to all genre. Each genre have its own style and I admire all types..

Well I don't like trance, pop or country so I can understand where your coming from. you have a preference of what kind of music you like. I like rap but it has to be a certain type there are so many different types of rap music there is underground, concious, hip hop, rap started out as a way to uplift the urban community a way for poor people to unite and liberate rap was also created to be different and unique over time rap has changed because people started using it as a way to make money rather than uplift and tell a story. alot of young rappers brag about what they have because its their life glamour fast money cars and so on the media contributes to that... some rappers have a message... but I love it because its creative and it takes a skill I just don't like the degrading of women and the cussing... look up the history maybe that would give you a deeper understanding...

Well I love listening to Rap because just like other genres rap songs have a meaning behind each one. There area a few so called rappers that are using way too much auto-tune which is starting to seriously get on my nerve. But artists like T.I, Kanye, Jay-Z and more recently Drake have really surprised me with their new material. I listen to all types of music. Another reason why I like Rap is that when there is a nice tune to the rap song I can really dance to it and make up steps to it, which I love to do. But I guess rap is not everybody's cup of tea.

I don't get it either, I don't personally understand how people say there is meaning in the lyrics. 95% of them seem to me just to be bragging about how rich and hard they are. Plus the backing music is normally really repetitive, sampled from another song or both. Most of the big names in rap are awful role models and have so little or absolutely no respect for women whatsoever. Although I am completely against censorship and beleive everybody should have freedom of speech and be able to say whatever they want, I just find it really difficult to find any value in rap music. I like old school rap. Like anything before 2000 the year. My favortie rapper is Tupac and I was so sad when he passed away. I know some of things talked about in rap sounds wrong and indeed it is the beat is what I like the most. But sometimes they tell a story and I enjoy that as well. Nice topic and happy mylotting to you

well most rap is about looking better than other people but if you listen some of the rap you will learn something about a persons life and what they did to overcome it. To me rap has a beat and it provides good insight into peoples life as it is mostly used for them to express themselves.

I like music of all kinds. Rap music ,if it has a story or meaning behind it , it is cool with me. Most write songs that mean something to them , I am not fond of all the profanity in the lyrics. That is what gets to me the most. Some of the beat is catchy and danceable. My child dances to some of the songs in shows. Finding a clean song is hard. So I guess I have a mixture taste. I like various artists.
