I have been trying to change my IP address. But that dosent seem to happen. Can you suggest ways to change my IP address. And I came to know that there are two types of IP : Static and Dynamic. What is the difference between the two. How can I determine to which type my IP belongs to ?. And please tell me how to change my IP address.

If you can't use Dynamic IP (rebooting the router works for me) then there are a couple of easy alternatives. The first is to use a proxy like HideMyAss.com. That will change your IP but only for the browser and only while you are using the proxy. And you will take a massive hit in speed and the number of sites you are able to browse.
The second, and the one I use, is to use a VPN, which stands for Virtual Private Network. You connect to a network using your current Internet connection. Your IP then becomes the IP of the server you connect to. But be aware, your Firewall has to be active when you do this - your router firewall will NOT protect you.
The upside of a VPN is that it covers everything, not just web browsing, and you can pretend to be in a different country to use things like Pandora if you are in the UK or BBC iPlayer if you are outside the UK.
Hope that helps.

Static IP address is constant everytime, it does not change during the course of the time. You should have asked your ISP to provide you with a Dynamic one in default. Well, you can change it. Dynamic IP keeps on changing everytime the session is ended or the MODEM is restarted!

I am assuming that you are a client of a regular internet service provider as appose to someone running thier own server..?
A static IP never changes and is often used for servers, such as those assigned to Yahoo, MyLot likely, as well as sites that host web sites with a domain name.
A dynamic IP address does not change often and is assigned automatically.'A dynamic IP is one that likely your ISP assigned to you.
Like my own.
It changes, periodically, when the ISP wants to change it but is usually only every few months. So for a few months it is always the same.
How are you trying to change your IP?
We can go into our network setting and use the Reset IP feature but you may still wind up with the same IP until your ISP recycles them.
Resetting the IP is basically a case of release and renew the IP address.
Perhaps calling support of your internet service provider and requesting that your IP be changed is the most simple way to get around this.
Letting us know what operating system you are using, would help in instructing you how to reset your IP.
If you follow this link to wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_address
it will explain, in detail about Static vs Dynamic IP Addresses.
Additionally, here is a link on How To Change Your Dynamic IP address

Ok i hope you are in for a read because there is alot to know about IP's.
Firt of all i will answer your dynamic/static IP question
A static IP is a IP which does not change unless manually changed, Stuff like a website for example, www.mylot.com is another way of typing in the Mylot IP adress, change the adress you change the domain name (theoretically).
A dynamic IP is a IP adress that changes because it can (Such as from a ISP provider)
Now to change your IP there is a couple of ways, if you have an external modem (like a bigpond modem or something similar) just unplug the modem from the computer for five minutes then put it back in, by this time the ISP would of given you a new IP.
If you need anymore help please send me a message, i have Technical experience in this field (even though i am quite young) and i know a fair bit about the dark side of the force of this topic.
