What do you use and tell us about its features and why you use it?
I use Yahoo Messenger and Skype for instant messaging on my laptop, and Palringo for my mobile phone. When it comes to other communication tools, I just use Yahoo Mail and Gmail.
I use Yahoo Messenger because it's what I've "grown up" to. It's user-friendly, not complicated, and has a lot of features like voice calling, webcam, sending files, games, etc.
For Skype, I use it mainly for video calls, because it's much clearer and faster than YM when it comes to webcams.
Palringo for mobile allows you to use a lot of instant messaging programs all at the same time, that's why I like it. It also has a lot of features, and it's nice.
So, share to use the instant messaging and other online communication tools that you use, and why you use it? Tell us its features. :)

Hi,there.I use a communication tool called QQ.I don't think you have heard it before but most Chinese use it for online communication, maybe just like you said we've "grow up " to.I think it's a good communication tool.It can be used on cellphone as well.At the same time,it has a lot of little games which are interesting and we play them when we chat with others .

I never had or tried MSN, so i don't really know what it's like. But I know it's one of the most common messaging services in the US, including aim. Haha, thanks for sharing what you do! I used to be like that, just sending random group messages so I'll have someone to chat with. Lol

I've heard of nimbuzz before, and I tried to install it on my mobile phone, but it didn't seem to work. So I just went for Palringo, and I found it cool because I can easily send a voice message or picture instantly. It allows you to record your voice and once it's done it will immediately be sent to your friend. It also gives you the option to send a picture from a folder, or to take a new picture and have it sent.

I use yahoo messenger for communication with friends and I use windows live messenger for work related communication. I'm not a chatter anymore, I just use them for communication purposes. It really helps because most of my friends are always online. So even if we are far away from each other, we are still "connected".

I use both yahoo messenger and MSN for instant messaging. MSN for video call and Yahoo Messenger for mobile chats, file transfer and games and sometimes for video calls also when MSN messes up.

I prefer skype, but use ym too, because of many my global friends, who prefer only YM.

I like to use MSN. Because most of my friends and my relatives also use it. Besides, it has the essential features and it is good for me to use. And my main email account is Hotmail. I will know I have got a new email right away because MSN will notify me.
I love China

I use YM, rarely I use skype. For the audio call usually I use some voip systems, I prefere them to the skype audio.
Anyway instant messengers are really a good thing to keep you in contact with your friends all over the world ;)

If you don't mind me asking, what VOIP systems do you use? And are they free just like Skype and YM? Anyway, yes it is very helpful indeed. Especially if you're in a long distance relationship (lol). And it's also a great way to maintain communication with friends who are also near. Faster than texting/sms messaging.

i like yahoo messenger a lot.soetimes chatting and video conversations feel nice.sending files or sharing pictures can also be done at ym.i guess its simplier than other online communication tools.like you have said it's like user friendly not like in gmail,i really can't understand how to chat and videocall there.so,i never really explored it too much.well,i don't have so much friends who uses gmail.as for mobile,i don't have high tech mobilefone so i have no option to do so.oh,i remembered i once, have ym on my phone last time,hehe..

most of the time it is sms because you always have your phone with you and the computer is the less expensive form of communication

I rarely use yahoo messenger even though I have it installed in my laptop. I am more of a magic jack user. It is a cheaper version of a land line telephone. It is free calling to Canada and US for a very low price. It is just like a usb that you plug in to your computer/laptop and plug in a landline telephone to the other end. Almost everybody is using it :) It is funny that I have friends who used them too and we don't live in Canada or US :) So, we communicate with each other via magic jack.
Here is a link in case you want to know more: www.magicjack.com

I've heard about magicjack, and I wanted to get one but I don't know if it can be used here in the Philippines. And besides, I can't use our landline telephone because my parents use it for business purposes, so I didn't bother about it anymore. To call US, I just use a free program called iCall. It's free, but atleast I can call landline telephones in the US, as well.

Msn Live Messanger. Even if it eats a bit of resources, people here in Portugal grown used to it.
Tried Skype but dunno why, even if it looks a bit hi-tech and cool, never got used to it. It looked a bit hard to use for starters.
Used the IM alternative: Miranda IM and was really cool at my old PC since it's like MIRC and I think lots of people grown with that and still use it sometimes.
Other times I use Teamspeak 3 for crazy friends reunions just to look like we're near each others and have fun with silly and crazy talks with each others.
