Ohh maybe you are not really interested to read it that is why you feel sleepy. If I am interested in the book to finish reading it no matter what time it is I still continue reading it.
There was a time when my father woke up because my light is still turned on and its already 3 oclock in the morning. My dad was wondering what I am doing inside my room at late hour with lights on. Only to find out that I am still reading.

Aha,similar feeling and experience with you. When I read a novel I just can't help to read it at one time,so I usually hide in the bedding and read it secretly.

Reading under your bedding? Are you using a flashlight? That would be uncomfortable for me. Because I like reading when I am sitting down or lying on my stomach. But I think I could not do that one, hiding under the bedding, you are silly.

I get like that too, but I've realised why. It's because I mainly pick up a book when I go to bed and I'm already tired! Are you trying to read when you are already tired? If so, then it's probably that. If not, then is it what you are reading? Is it something you have to read e.g. for studies that you don't really want to? If so, it could be your brain rebelling a bit!

haha... happens a lot to me... back when i was still a student.. well, it still happens when I'm reading something that does not really catches my interest or if i'm super tired...
i guess if you keep it in your mind that you have to read it no matter what and give yourself a deadline, you would be able to help it.. ^_^

Maybe it depends on the type of book you open.. If it's academic or something and you need to read something that's the time that you feel sleepy. Reading books may not be your main interest but try to read a few pages. Reading books is a great way to gain information.

oooohhhh!!!!! We share the same dilemma . I try not to open books until it will be my last option to prevent myself from sleeping especially during exams. I really prefer handouts over books.
I think we are one of the unique people who finds it hard to be motivated in reading books. The worst moment is when you are alone while it is quiet and holding and tying to read a book. We know what will be the outcome.

That's quite awful! Perhaps you are not interested in your reading, or else you are on the grips a lethargic attitude. Fight t back .....

Maybe you can try opening the book while eating something for sure you won't get sleepy. Actually am not doing this except if I'm already so hungry but have to read a book. It just came in to my mind maybe if we're busy chewing while reading we won't get sleepy.

I assume you're talking about reading your textbooks for school, am I right? Do you read other books outside of class that aren't required reading like novels or non-fiction you find interesting? If not, then you might want to try cultivating an active reading habit. Students who are avid readers outside of school don't have any trouble reading and comprehending inside of school.
Also, try reading after doing something active like going on a walk. Start reading when your mind is alert and ready and not when you're about to go to bed or something.

i think that just about everyone deals with that. i know that i do as well. i think its that you are in a comfortable position while you are reading. so that might be one reason why. if you dont want to fall asleep while you are reading, then you can try standing up while you read. and also if you read for long periods of time then you are going to fall asleep fast because you are working your brain while you read and taking alot of information from reading. i think that is why you fall asleep while you read.

well, do you have trouble paying attention to things in general? think about it. If that is the case, you probably have a mild form of add or adhd. one way to stay focused on every thing you need to accomplish, is to make a scedule, planning out minute by minute. even a checklist. it really helps.
