Have your WISHES changed in the last few years....

Over the last few years my own wishes for my life have changed dramatically. With so much happening in the world it's time to be realistic.
All I want is a roof over my head , food on the table, and a job. Changed days from when I was younger, I wanted to fly to the moon , become a fireman, fly a jet plane.
Yes times have really changed , maybe it's just me getting old.
Do any other myLotters agree, or feel the same ?
Happy days.

Well, I can say that pretty much I am being changed every single day by every single move I make. But to stick to the point, I do feel that things are getting out of hand with these people who would be too pron to outside influence and would neglect their goals (or even lack any in the first place). I do believe that a person should be having a CLEAR MIND-STATE about what he wants in order to feel mature, and he would have to come up with some plan on how to achieve those dreams.
Personally I would say that a few years ago I had a pretty bad romance relationship with the wrong girl. We were in love but when she wanted me to move to the US with her and abandon all my life, friends and family, after a hard consideration I chose to stay. It was a pretty difficult call for me, back then I just wanted to be with her and get a job so I can provide, because I wanted to marry her and so on. Later on after the break-up (and many girlfriends) I found myself the right girl for me and we are currently soon to be celebrating an anniversary. My current dreams are to finish graduation school and make as much as cash to provide for us as possible. I also hope for the best, in health, luck and status, trying to be positive as much as I can. This means I cannot allow myself to change wishes and dreams too often, does it?

These kind of things happen to every one. when I was a child I wanted to be a scientist. then at last i became an economist. Now I want to be a writer in English.
many years I would never have the wish to be a writer in english. Now I work hard to get the goal.
life is changing so we should change to catch it too.

Thanks for your idea about the topic too. It did make me think about life. compared to the past I think I would be more positive. at least now I can make progress a bit every day.
After staying in the UK I do improve my english, but not enough. However my daily life is like a classroom. i like the feeling.
wish you have an enjoyable experience on mylot.

Sounds cute to wish for those things as a kid. When I was younger, I wanted to be a popstar - never came through and around it since my parents did not have connections like that. Yea as we all get older, we start wanting more realistic things like financial help, love, body imaging, shelter, new clothes, ideal goals for the future.
Yeah I agree.
-.- all I want is tonnes of money, so I can afford better clothes, support myself and my future, some for help others, some money to travel - sure money can't buy me happiness but it can get me to places that will make me at least content. But again, we gotta appreciate what we currently have now since there are others in the world who are quite unfortunate and cannot afford the luxuries we all have. It's one of those things that we all take advantage of without thinking much of those who do not have what you've got. Just try to have that feeling of being blessed and be happy about it.

There's nothing wrong about being realist like there's nothing wrong about being a dreamer.I think we all have learned a lot from this economical crisis and we're going to be more careful in the future. Now I know that everything can be achieved, but everything can be lost too.I understand how high the risk in life is, but it won't stop me from creating plans.

I feel the same. As we grow old, we tend to realize what things are actually doable and things that are not. In the process, we omit those things that are not within our reach and thus, making our thoughts including our dreams simpler and more realistic.

When I was younger I had lots of wishes and dreams for my life but then I failed a degree I was taking and it made me realise that it is better just to take things one day at a time. The major thing I wish for now is to have my back surgery so that I will no longer be in pain and then I can go back to doing my job as a nurse which I love doing x

Dude, when i was young I just want to be a guy with abs.. now that I have them I want a life partner and money. Sometimes I just wish that I would never get old because back when I was young life was easier. You don't have to think about a lot of stuff back then. All you have to think about is what I will eat and when will I take a nap and what toy to buy next. I miss being a kid.

Hi, there.
Oh, yes, I feel the same. Man proposes, God disposes. I used to have lots of wishes, as time passed by, some have come true, some have remained unfulfilled, others have changed. I make a point of being realistic in this realistic world. No matter how time changes, we have to move on, right?
Keep well and good luck!

hi haddowz,
My answer is yes, as we mature our wishes or should I say goals changes . For in life as we grow older we learn and became aware of the things around us. As we ages/ mature, we now try to aim for the things that we think that is better for us, I am not saying that the wishes we have before is not good but I might say that we are now more FOCUS. Have a nice day! Happy mylotting!

yeah i think so. i guess my wishes are more on the practical side now than the magical. i also wanted to do something crazy when i was younger but now that i have a family i mostly wish for good health, supply of food and stable job for me (soon) and my husband.

Since having my son all my wishes now seem to revolve around him. I wish for him to be safe, happy, healthy. I wish to raise him to treat others well and to try his best at everything. Even wishes that don't seem to be about him are e.g I wish to move to a lovely village nearby and that is because I want him to go to the school there.
