I understand that some men sleeps without their t-shirts on. However, I just noticed that in some of the street in Manila, we see shirtless people walking the streets. Maybe they are just hanging out and drinking with their friends. I just find it a bit rude especially to passers-by. It is okay if they are inside their own homes but when they step outside, it is still better to have a t-shirt on.

Today is the hottest so far in the Philippines this summer. The weather reaches 37.5 degree celsius. Well, yeah, that may be a reason for some guys. I just hope that girls won't use the same reason as well. lol

I totally agree with you, it's really an eye-sore to see guys without their shirts on.. I totally agree on Bayani Fernando when he said that shirtless men in the streets should be prosecuted. hahahaha. they should really learn and I don't care even if it's really hot, cause it's really inappropriate to be walking around the streets without your shirts on and your underwear showing under your shorts. Argh.

Prosecution would be a very harsh penalty hahaha! But it was so cute of him to say that :))

one aspects is the weather, and the other is education (lack thereof) /upbringing the latter is more logical than the former, most of those shirtless are bums (sorry for the word) wasting time by staying at their homes without flexing a single muscle. uneducated and are often times problem of the society
on movies and mtvs you also see some other cultures (gangsta) who like to walk around naked displaying brute force and angsts.
beach is the place other than your own room to get naked, else, you should check your manners.

haha I can feel the angst here. But yeah, because of these people, the perception of our society has degraded.

I'm a Filipino-Chinese, born and grew up in the Philippines, so I don't mind men on the streets or anywhere without a shirt on top unless if I see one strolling around the mall or getting into the restaurant except if its at the beach of course.. Its just that growing up here and getting used to seeing shirtless men everywhere is kind of normal for me..

I totally agree with you bigbaps. I live in L.A. and hang out in West Hollywood. Guys are shirtless all the time, especially in the Summer. There is nothing wrong with men being shirtless in public. In fact, I am one of them. I go shirtless alot. And West Hollywood is very shirtless friendly. I and other men go into alot of the places there shirtless, no problem. There's nothing wrong with it. It has alot to do with how people are raised, sadly. They're raised in a conservitive household, and are told that it's wrong. Be a free spirit!

Hi pierrella! Yes, I agree to you that it's better and men should have their t-shirts on. For me, it's inappropriate for these guys loitering around the street topless regardless if your living within the vicinity. It's also similar for people attending a wedding with their slippers on, wherein the attire should be formal from the invitation. It is accepted, at least for them, due to a lifestyle already. I still believe that in every location we are in and would go to, there's always an appropriate and/or acceptable attire for the community. Yesterday, I was in Boracay and it's one of the best beaches we have in the country. Of course, it's alright, it's appropriate and acceptable to people if men are topless because the place already served its purpose.

Of course, topless men are accepted in beaches lol :) But yeah, men should wear appropriate clothing depending on the venue. I bet lots of people were in Bora. Many of my friends went there, too.

I agree with you. I think that people should have a courtacy for others as to how they present theirselves in public. I do get slightly offended when I see someone with no shirt on or even really tight clothes.

I don't like to look at shirtless men. I don't like it either. But maybe because the weather is hot and they don't care about what they look. They don't feel to be respected. It is the matter of immitation. If they see someone shirtless they do the same and feeling that is okay. People are different, that is their decision anyway. for me they do not look respectable on that shirtless thing.

Well, I don't find it rude, as the country where I lived before it was pretty common, but... I didn't like it, as many shirtless men are hairy, fat and sweaty...
I know that about "if you don't like it don't look at it", and I tried not to look on those cases, but it's not my favourite thing to see...

Another case of lack of discipline and weak law enforcement. It's common decency to wear a shirt when you're in a public place/streets and there's even a city ordinance in Manila against "topless men".
Makes me think, who's to blame? the people for breaking the law or the authorities for not doing their job.

Yes, I see them around too in our locality too. We come from the same country and I think men got this bad habit from their predecessors. I find it in bad taste for men to be going around half naked especially if they have big bulging tummies, they do not have the right to be parading around shirtless. It is gross.

Yeah, for me, that is also very unethical and really a turn-off! I know it's hot nowadays but it is not a reason for not wearing a shirt outside of your house.

It doesn't bother me. If it's hot then surely they are just cooling off? I suppose it depends on the culture of the country they are in, for me if they want to take their shirt off then that's up to them, there's nothing that rude about it. It's not like they are walking around with nothing on!
I don't particularly want to see big bellied men without shirts on, but I just choose not to look at them.

manila is hot during the afternoon. Probably they're cooling off. I see alot of people around without shirts, and some people walk around in nothing but their boxer shorts.
