for me it is always difficult to give a wai a painting or drawing. anytime I make one it´s like I make up some sort of story in my mind and the result(painting-drawing-colage) is part of that world I just created in my mind. I love to look at older artworks for getting inspiration for more. so I have no idea if I ever could sell my pictures, I more create them for myself I guess. and what about you???

I only have ever been really happy with a couple of pictures/paintings and I put the one I still have in a frame and have it hung at my house.

I honestly don't know what became of the other ones - I did them in 1970-71, the year I graduated from high school and they have just vanished in the various moves and years.

may I ask, what did you do with the ones you no longer have? throw them away or made them a gift for somebody?

I have no problem with this, once I have finished my art I am through with it and send it as a gift to who ever can use it. By use I mean even if it's just for their pleasure. If they pay me for my effort I am very proud that they give my work value.

I haven't been much into my art lately but when I was I could not stand the thought of selling it or giving it away! I know how you feel! but if you want to do this or if you are doing this as your profession you're going to have to part ways sooner or later. Before you do though be sure to take a very nice picture of it so you can use it in your portfolio!

Giving away art is a hard candy, I've had the experience and it's better to know that you're painting something for someone before you do, that doing so and getting that someone afterwards, isn't it. Besides money there's a dozen hundred things that are great about art, but selling it is fun sometimes, too. Just be on the happy side of things. Or just have your pieces photographed and you'll get what you need from it afterwards, when you need it.
