What do you think is the best simple recipe for lasagna? Do you think basil adds more perk than oregano? I know a very simple lasagna but i still want to improve its flavor. Any suggestions?

The most common recipe includes marinara sauce, using both oregano and basil. It is layered with a mixture of ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, egg, salt and pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg.
Alternately, it may be served without the cheese layer, and alternating layers of marinara and bechamel sauces (white sauce with parmesan and nutmeg).
Of course you can make it spinach lasagna, or any other vegetable combination, or add mushrooms.

I make a pot of tomato sauce with ground meat and a pot of white sauce. I buy precooked lasagna pasta. I put one layer of tomato sauce, one of pasta, one of white sauce, one of cheese. I repeat and end with white sauce and grated parmesan cheese.
I use bay leaf for the tomato sauce and do not use either basil or oregano. I also make a vegetarian lasagna with a sauce made with spinach or chard and pesto and the other is white sauce. I prepare both the same way, in layers.
Take care!
