the earth is a neutral place. it is either safe or dangerous. maybe the calamities wake humans to innovate technology that protect human beings from them. one of the volcanoes of our country expelled lava last january yet it did not explode. there is still hope if people are prepared.

Your question set me thinking why the seasons come with such clock like regularity. Why rain falls only where greenery is and not in the desert. Why the temperature never increases beyond our tolerance limit? True there is heavy rainfall sometimes but it never gets flooded as it was in Noah's time. Aren't we lucky that there are no creatures like dinosaurs trotting on this earth? All this shows that we the living things have struck an excellent rapport with nature. Nature tends for us the way mother tends a child. We are the sensory organs of this planet. We convey to the environment our needs and environment conveys it to the nature. Earthquakes, famine, tsunamis and other natural disasters are striking the earth in a more unusual way because the relationship and mutual understanding between nature and us is somewhere unbalanced. Somehow, we have lost our sensitivity and nature is not able to judge correctly our needs and wants. May be it is reacting violently to some of our action. Due to our penchant for luxury, we have released more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. We have created conditions more conducive for global warming. Unless there is a trust and agreement between nature and us these things would continue to happen unless God intervenes and comes himself to save us.

Yes, I believe everyone notices the recent frequent happenings of various natural disasters. I know something is not right somewhere. Seems like our planet Earth is coming down with some serious illness. Anyway, come what may, just be prepared, and pray hard.
