Perhaps you will be visiting the capital city, London. If so you might want to go shopping along Oxford Street. I suggest you look around at a few different pairs of shoes and sport clothing. Prices vary between different shops. Sometimes it will be possibly I look around a shopping center and it might have decent prices. There are so many souvenir stands and shops I don't think it will be difficult to find them. I would say you will need about £60-£100 for the sport clothing and $50-£120 for the shoes. The souvenirs will probably cost from £5 to £25. I imagine you have already bought your plane ticket and paid for your accommodation. I come from Britain. I hope that you will have a lovely trip.

You could easily spend between £30 and £100 a day. If he is going for 14 days encourage him to get out of London, as we say, you don't enter England till you leave London. He could visit the beautiful woods in nearby Hertfordshire and in the countryside it is much cheaper with low cost things to do.
all the best urban

Hmmm being England, lets assume things are expensive. Average hotel room stay about $150 a night, food about $60 a day, clothes hmmm easily you could spend $500, and only get a few pairs of clothes, souvenirs $200, taxi service that you'll probably need daily about $50 a day, unexpected expenses $500.
5340
so i say you'll need about $6,000.

The UK is very expensive.
Most things that cost dollars in the USA are at least that amount in pounds here.
A pair of shoes will be at least £50 (I just paid £90 for running shoes for my husband for his birthday)and sports clothes can be pricey too but it all depends what he wants to pay and where he shops for them.
Souvenirs are often cheaper in markets than they are in the shops alongside of the local attractions.

my experience from visiting and staying for a week in London is:
about $15-$20 for a person for a night at a very descent hostel almost in the center of the city
and about $10 daily for food from a supermarket (in the room there was a microwave and a fridge)
and about $10 daily for the transport
but i'm not much of a shopper, so i cannot give an advice about where to find interesting things at acceptable prices
