3D Movies - Are they REALLY worth the cost?

seems like every other movie is going to be in 3D right now and I read in a magazine that they expect the price to jump for 3D movies to almost $20 bucks a ticket! right now its over $8 for a regular movie. $12 for imax and i havent seen a 3D movie in the theater yet but i cant imagine paying anymore than i already do!
im sure some are impressive but if this trend continues then you know there will be crappy movies in 3D coming out and then you would have wasted a crapload of money for nothing! (as if movies lately arent a risk as is!)
are 3D movies worth it? will you continue to go to them at 20 bucks a person? do you think this will last? i mean heck they had them way back when and they didnt catch on much then so kind of hard to believe it will be around a long time again. and when you buy a 3D movie on DVD or Bluray later does it come with glasses? and are their prices jumped up?
ugh i think i will just stay HOME!

My first time with 3D, I thought it was cool! Swords poking out , varying depths of the objects on the screen. etc...but lately, I grew tired of it. It is very hurting to the eyes. The last 3d movie I saw was "CLash of the Titans", and I am sure I would have nejoyed the movei more had it been in the usual 2D format.

No! The movie is worth it only if the movie you are watching is an animated movie! Like 'How to Train Your Dragon' or the likes. Do not watch it when its not an animation. I watched Clash of the Titans in 3D and the ONLY 3D I saw was the subtitles popping out

For some movies, yes. Its brilliant, I liked watching Alice in Wonderland in 3D and How to Raise Your Dragon in 3D. But for some, it only makes the picture sharper and the subtitles to look 3D for an extra 10 bucks. 10 bucks is a lot when you're a student .

I may be on my own in my opinion here. But I am not impressed at all with 3D. Now every time you turn around..BAM it's in 3D. Enough already. For me, not worth the cost.

Before I also has the feeling and didn't want to pay extra for a 3D movie. Until one day I watched Avatar in 3D. I was really impressed by the beautiful pictures and effects. I felt I was in the place to see what happened.
I think 3D is the future direction of our entertainment. Now in the UK you even can watch some TV programs in 3D. it's amazing.
I was thinking to watch how to train your dragon in 3D, but the ticket is 11 pounds. I feel it's too expensive. If I'm rich I would like going to see it.

Not at all. The only reason they are making everything in 3D now is to charge the consumer more. I still prefer 2D movies better. I just don't see what the big deal is making the majority of movies in 3D now. The idea of having to wear those 3D glasses throughout a movie is rather annoying.

After I went to a 3D film I am now a kind of addicted I just cannot wait until the next film comes. But what I have to say is here 3D is not a really expensive pleasure.I watched Alice in Wonderland for some 4 euro but when we go out of the cinema we give the glasses back.It is probably so expensive in your country because you buy the glasses together with the ticket.

Hey moonlit! Wow! The movies where I live in NY are way more
expensive then $8 to being with! They are like $13, I think just
for regular tickets! I hardly ever go to the movies anymore and
when I do go me and one of my girlfriends sneak in for "Senior
Tickets"! Damn, we don't care we just want the cheaper price!lol
And I don't even know if the 3D movies cost more or not! Me and
one of my other girlfriends (who is alot younger than me) want
to go see "Alice in Wonderland"! It that movie costs more I will
just wait until it comes to DVD! Heck, they give you the 3D
glasses with the movie for the same price and me and my boyfriend
rather watch the movies at home anyway! (And for me I can catch
a quick buzz and that movie would be perfect to watch with a
little buzz on)! Don't tell anyone I said that, ok? Shhhh....

Yes,It is definitely worth.3D movies present a more realistic vision to us.as if you are in the movie and stand behind the actor/actress.I am very exticted about this kind of feeling.but you can not have this feeling when watched a regular movie. It is worth to cost more money to watch 3D movies.

but what if you spend all that money and then the movie was horribly written and not much 3d in it? you never can tell how much will be 3d before you go to it

well for me i like to watch the movie eventhough it is not 3D in my opinion 3D and ordinary theater have in common although 3d is much high-tech,it both present the same movie the same actor the same actress so why do we need to spend so much money in 3d if we can watch it in an ordinary movie theater, this is my idea about 3D

unless it was like a really good action or horror movie and i knew that at least 50% was in 3d i dont see it worth it.. with my luck only 10 minutes total will be 3d after i paid so much

Well actually it depends on the kind of 3D. Can't say l know that much about it but l'm gonna give a simple example.
Clash of the titans - great movie very cool , but lame 3D the people doing it ruined the whole movie.
Avatar- arguably good. magnificent 3D.
Bottom line is the bigger the budged the greater possibility for a good 3D experience

I'm from Philippines, and our 3D cinemas here usually ranges from 200-400 Pesos depending on where you will watch. But some 3D cinemas here is like your just watching in a regular cinema it's just that your wearing that 3D glasses. For me, I think it's not that worth it especially if the movie your watching have less scenes that are in 3D. After all you are still after the plot of the movie rather than wanting it to be in 3D.
