When i was in grade school, i really wanted to became a registered nurse, i love to see nurses wearing white uniforms and in my mind, i just knew that i would enjoy this kind of profession plus the fact that i really wanted to work abroad, but because my family was against this and im weak enough to be swayed by their suggestion of what course in college i should take in order to land in a great job, i gave up my chosen course, not knowing that it would became a very in-demand job during my time (1998 up to now? not so sure about this). Now that i have my own family, i set aside my plans of working abroad because i can't leave my love ones here. Migration to other country was a good idea but takes a lot of time and requirements in order to do so... For now, i will just concentrate with what we have, any way im living a happy life it's just that looking for a greener pasture was still seeked by many individual (but not me at this moment) are you one of them dear myLotters? Have a great day ahead!

Hi! I'm new here at "My Lot". I am planning to go abroad I think I just need to gain experience here before I go overseas. I'm already 27 years old. My reason is that If will have the opportunity to go abroad, I can save more money and this will provide the way for me to have a better future. What I wanted is to have my own business here at my own country, here in the Philippines. I think that's a good decision for you, just concentrate on what you have, I believe all of us will find our green pastures someday, what's important is that we must not loose our dreams, for it is the only thing that pushes us up to strive and make it to reality. Thanks for this discussion. You too Jinjer168 have a nice day.

Hello mhine! welcome to myLot! I believe you've got the real passion of going abroad because you are still young and single so your mind was totally focused on one thing, and that is to gain experience while working here then eventually apply for a work abroad. I am glad that your main reason was just to earn and save money for your future business here in our own country, many of our fellow men did those things in the beginning. Yes, we must don't really stop from dreaming, anyway its totally free and we could benefit a lot from it, This dreams of ours will serve as our shining star that will guide us all throughout till we could reach it out finally. Thanks for your response and good luck to all your plans! God bless...

Hi friend, I have no plan to work abroad. I have done my graduation in engineering from a government aided engineering collage and MBA from government collage. My country's government has spned too much money in making me what I am today. I feel I must repay it to my country by offering my skills and expertises to my country only. I have this thought process since I completed graduation and hence I never had desire to go abroad and earn more. Rather I have chosen to work in a company where government holds majourity stake.

Hello common_man! Wow! your credentials was so good, you are an engineer and a very nationalistic individual. I salute you for sticking to your principle of not working or migrating to another country in exchange of much higher financial returns. Each of us has different mindset, and allowed moreover to use our own free will to make decision for ourselves, that was your choice and i think that you are very happy serving your country, if that makes you happy then its great. Continue to be a very productive citizen and be happy always. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and more power!

Hello chiyosan! You have your own choice of doing so and im sure that you're happy with our own country for deciding to do so, yes it's true, a lot of my relatives who come back here told me that its not as great as we think working there. Lots of hard work, perseverance and lack of time for their families to name a few are some of the things they experienced there. If we are happy enough and contented here, then we should stay and find our niche here in our own land. THanks a lot chiyosan and God bless!

jinjer168, I do not know about you or your hesitations here but your line is very much needed elsewhere. Not forgetting that the pay is really worth considering. Like you, I did have my hesitation when the opportunities came by and approached me, where my family had just entered a new phase. However, as I sat the family down together, I was quite surprised with the support I had from all quarters to let me have a peace of mind with this career move. I know it is not going to be easy but in the first place it isn't. But, you need to understand that such opportunities are rare and are not for anyone. I feel that you should give it some consideration and arrange a family sit down to discuss it. Besides, such undertaking is never permanent - maximum 2 years with an option to extend and it is not as if you do not have home leave time. You will have the time for yourself and your family. Just don't be too fast with your options especially when it could help with your career prospect and economic well being.

Hello there skysuccess! Thank you so much for your nice response and i like you for being ambitious, determined and hardworking individual who didn't let huge opportunities to pass by. I wish you all the best for all your plans in life and with regards to myself, i am not closing my doors to a whole new bunch of opportunities that will come my way. If it does happened one day, then we could still talk and deliberate about it. For now, i will just enjoy myself being with my love ones. Thanks again and have a great day ahead!

I ever think about that because working abroad is fun. Seeing another people and another culture must be very fun too. But jinjer, we can still be a nurse without going abroad can't we?

HEllo ifa! I agree with you far saying that, changes and variation in life gives us a lot of fun, excitement and learning to name a few. Being in other country or working there was a whole new bunch of experience that was not experienced by all human beings so lots of us dream to work abroad. Yes we could still be a nurse and stay and work here alone and not planning to work abroad, problem was that its really much better to work there financially speaking, anyway, its just a matter of your own decision. You can stay or you can leave, each of us has his or her own free will that we could use in deciding for ourselves... Good luck ifa and thank you so much for hearing your response!

Hi jinjer, I do want to work abroad. I don't know about migrating, I still want to establish my family here in the Philippines. But to work abroad, yes, it's one of my goals. You see, my career here in the Philippines is not going too well because of the overpopulation of nurses. And it's one of the reasons why I have taken up nursing, is to have that chance to work abroad and see my long lost relatives there. Wish me Luck!

How I wish I can migrate in other country but I still love the Philippines. I think working abroad is good but not living there permanently. It is much better to live here than to other country.

Hello onlyprincess! Many Filipinos dream of working abroad because of lack/less of opportunity here in our own country. They leave their family and find their luck abroad. I can't really blame our fellow countrymen for leaving our country because any one has the right to seek for a much greener pasture for their family. I wish you luck and i do hope that you can find a good job abroad and hopefully, you could finally see your relatives there. Good luck and God bless... Hi there agv0419! I admire you for being loyal to our country, its your choice and sure enough, you could establish your work or business here because of your mindset. Good luck and thanks for your response, God bless!

Hello coco! You're absolutely correct for saying that you want to migrate to another country now that you are still young and single, that's is because you will have a really great advantage of really helping your family to the fullest if you are single, your finances will solely be for your self and for them alone. Unlike that when you already have a family of your own, then your money will be splitted to a lot more priorities like your own needs as a starting family. We all have a plan, and yours was a good one... Hope you will realize all your dreams in the near future, i wish you look in all aspect of your life, thanks for your response!

I have done it. Me, my husband and our two year old daughter sold everything we owned, including our house, bought a motorhome and got on a ferry to Spain. We have been here now for over seven years and have another baby now too. I can't say that is been an easy ride at all. We managed to set up our own little business and somedays we have to put in lots of hours over a seven day period. The thing is, even though we do miss our extended family, we chose to come here for a better lifestyle for our children. The UK was not the right place for us to bring up children and my husband was working away and he was missing out on his little girl growing up. Like I said, we do work more hours for less money but the other advantages far out weigh them; my children get to see their daddy every day, he gets to take them to and pick them up from school and he is an intergral part of their lives. If we'd have stayed in the UK that would be a totally different story.

Hello beautyfactor! Nice to hear your story and im glad that somehow, your family had made a good choice. Migrating to other country was a huge decision to make, but lots of people were seeing this to improve their present life condition. In your case, i can see that you wanted to give much more quality time for your kids and im just so glad knowing that you realize this in your new chosen country to reside to. Thanks so much for hearing your response! Good luck to you and your family, all the best and take care!

Hello jinjer, good day to you!!! Going abroad is not in my mind before. I am just contented here in our country. But when I graduated college, I found out that it was good to work abroad, you can earn much more and you can make an investment. So now I would also like to go and work abroad. Hello adamay! well, many of us filipinos really have this dream of working abroad for so many reasons, one of them was the huge financial return that you couldn't get here in our country for just being a simple employee. I do hope that you will realize this dream of yours in working abroad. Who knows, one day you will just inform me that you're already there. Good luck to you and may God bless all your future plans. Good nigth!

Hello my friend shenylynn! Yes indeed, your course was just so in-demand abroad, you are very lucky being there and experienced for yourself how to earn and how to live your life living in another country. Im so glad that you are having a nice quality time with your baby, motherhood was the toughest yet the most rewarding career of all, and for us mothers, we didn't care much for ourselves when we already have our baby with us. Good luck to all your future plans, also to your family. Thanks a lot and God bless!

Hi, I am currently a nurse. My whole family just migrated to the US last year, i wasn't able to go with them because I was already 21. Even if i have all these opportunities, i still don't want to go abroad and live there. I just love it here in the Philippines. I don't really know why. It might change when I have a family, but till then, i dont want to go abroad. I want to go to other countries and maybe have a vacation but I never thought and would really want to live there.

Hello there kharlav! well, you have a great advantage of working abroad because of your course plus the fact that your family was already in the U.S. Others like you preferred to go there for a certein period of time, then return in our hometown after saving and investing enough money then stay here for good already. You are still young and your decision might still change, i just wish all what's best for you. Thanks a lot and good night!

hi jinjer! that's actually what im contemplating to do? work abroad. i can't really understand why skilled workers here in PH is underpaid while in other countries workers are paid high? i also feel that im not getting younger anymore, there are a lot of newbies coming on the field and its hard to compete with them. well it's still a plan and i know i have to invest more-study and save more to have them with me than leave them.

Hi there ersanmiguel! I am truly aware of the much brain-drain that was happening to our country, and the main reason was the lack of good opportunity and sometimes with so low income that our professionals experienced while working here. No wonder, many of us tend to seek for much greener pasture and leave our country in exchange for brighter future for them and their families. Richer countries can paid our workers well because they have a good economy so they got enough money to support their working population. Here in our country, we've got so many corrupt officials that's why instead of sharing the government revenues to its people, money was shared by only few corrupt individuals, one more thing was that, we are still belonging to third class nation and we are not that rich to support all our needs, and if we can sometimes, its not enough compared with the salary we could get by working abroad. Hope you will get things done and pursue all your plans, thanks for sharing your thoughts and have a nice day ahead!

Hello forteafuture! If you really want to go abroad, try to be ready for it. Finish your school and gain much experience so you'll have a better chance of going there. Be patient enough to research for job openings and get ready for many requirements you must prepare to be able to go there, financial aspect was very much needed as well when you apply for work in other country. If your willingness was there, then, there's no way that you can't realize this dream of yours. Good luck and God bless!
