All Work And Little Pay Makes You ......

You are a workaholic. Your boss realizes it. You are assigned loads of work to be completed within hours. More work is poured in as you finish of those given to you earlier. Still more ...and more ...and more. However the workload is not fully compensated by way of enhanced remuneration. Isn't it exploitation of your potential? How good or bad your responses and further reactions in such situations would be?

In a way I see that as explotation because of the fact that you work and work and work and yet you can barely get by. people should get paid for every ounce of labor, but they don't do that. It totally sucks.

ow noooooo. THAT WOULD BE A NO NO! you work so hard so you need to receive salary equal to your effort. IF THAT WOULD HAPPEN TO ME, i'll just resign and i'll find another job with a nice boss that will recognize and will give rewards to your effort.

I realize some mistreat their workers, but if you take a job at a set rate per hour, shouldn't you expect to give your best for the full hour, regardless of the assignment?

I am not directly related to your topic...as i am not a working woman..but i work a lot at home ...and it happens at home also sometimes...though there is no boss to pressurize you, but you still have to do so much over work some day...and they are unavoidable too....but i feel relaxed when i finish them...actually these are OUR work and so we don't feel and take it that way as we do in office...there lies the difference

If you don't feel you are getting fairly compensated for what you do then you should go else where. It is pretty cut and dry. An employer is going to work you as hard as they can. If you are willing to do it then no problem. If not find another job that is more to your liking and potential.

It's okay to work hard but if my employer gives me a load of work which is not properly compensated then I will talk to my boss. A good communication with the employer is always better than being unhappy with the job and keeping the hard-feelings to yourself. This attitude will produce negative effects in the work place and also leads to a bad relationship. Talk and perhaps your boss will be considerate.

Employers should treat their staff professional and not to overload them with work. They are only humans with limits and not computerized robots who can function 24/7. Probably even robots are not capable of being fed with too much orders in a day. When the mind is too exhausted the end result will be inefficiency. When work is concerned every employer should see that the staff are compensated on par with their output and their educational attainment. For employees, respect your body by giving it the minimal amount of work a day and don't be exploited by greedy employers who are only interested to gain than to see the welfare of their staff which are at stake for being overworked.

I think sooner, I'd realize I'm being exploited and start doing it a little slower next time. Though never experiencing that, a friend did. She was overworked and underpaid. Overworked because she quickly finished her work, so the boss gave her more. Eventually, she got tired and was burned out, she became delinquent after. hahahaha..

All Work And Little Pay Makes You very very stress and depress at the same time. this is not good physically and mentally as well. the hardest part on this is it is not easy to look for a job so sometimes you end up just doing it even you know that it is not worth it. there are jobs that are complicated but someone has to do it.

right now with the economy being so bad its almost like we have no choice! people that complain get fired and then their work thrown on another person that is doing 10 peoples jobs already! and then you cant find another job for months.. its horrible and i think the bosses know exactly thats why people dont quit/complain since they dont have a choice

hi sukumar794, I understand what you are trying to say becuase I also had same experienced on my previous job. I feel so irritated that of all the teachers in school, I was the one overloaded with so many subjects. I worked there from 7 am to 5 pm. I handled both high school and elementary with different subjects. I don't have much break and then my salary is very little. It is very unfair with the hardships I am doing. Actually, I want to resign but because I have a contract, I just try to finish it. Besides, I care for my students and I don't want to leave them without a substitute. As of now, I am no longer in that school and I feel relieve now. I applied for other school which I know will pay equally with my work. Life is so hard nowadays and I know we must know how to be practical.

Hi sukumar, i agree. People seem to care little about how much their employees really need. :) Even today, audit assistants are doing work for 5000 or so, which is pathetic considering that my servant maid without any education earns almost equal amount, and is in less tense environment. Educated are truly exploited by educated bosses in our country.

its tricky because A.there is obviously plenty of work and your job is secure. B.Others may slow down knowing you will do their share. C.The money will never reflect the work load because you cannot put a price on diligence. I think i would continue to work hard but would not rush through things and stress myself out to do so. You may need to pint out at some point that there is more work being given you than you can sensibly handle and if things continue you cant guarantee the quality of the work will be good.

Though I do get angry when I am not paid well for my work, I'm a true workaholic and work for the sake of working. So, I continue working the way I do and complain and complain and complain...that's all I do. Till I can take it no more and I quit then.

It is really awful...having had to complain about your problems all the time. Why these bosses do not recognize the needs of their employees?

At least at the last place I worked at ( a school), the chairman was basically into money making...and we never even got our salary on time. Then, he would try to turn his 'black money' into 'white' by paying us cash instead of sending to our account in the bank. He cared nothing about the needs of the employees...he always said he was doing so much for us..giving concession for our children at the school ( a 50 % discount still meant we had to pay more than 30,000 as tution fees alone...besides the books, uniforms....food - if we were taking it from the school).

9 times out of ten busting butt for your boss only gets you more of the same with no promotion.of course you're not moved up,too efficient where you are. the only time being really gung ho pans out is when you're self employed.

I will like to ask you first if the jobs allocated to you are within your terms of contract and you work within the specified time in your contract ,if this is not so then you ought to be remunerated for the extra time worked but i must tell you that you have to demand this and until you do so and you are turned down you are not exploited yet

I consider myself a hard worker and I have been in jobs where my dedication was definitely exploited for minimal pay; it resulted with me becoming more and more resentful until I decided to leave because it seemed that the more I gave the more was expected of me and if I went out of my way to do something over and above my duties just once it became expected all the time!

How true you are! The case is in point is very much akin to what I am experiencing now. Having retired from service, I offered my talents to a firm which is in turn is over exerting me for a remuneration much below the one which is expected for the kind of job. When you are sincere in your work, the boss wants more of your acumen, but shirks away from paying out that extra sum to you. Strange!

I want my bosses to be pleased and that situation happened to me a couple of months ago. Since I want to make a good impression to my boss, I ended up accepting loads of work without realizing that it was beyond my duty and the bad thing is i wasn't even paid at the right amount. Later on I got tired with all of their favors. They considered me as one of their good employees (cause I accept favors :P) but I resigned at their company and they ended calling me up and wanting me back to the company, but I refuses.

Most bosses expect your doing things speedily...but offer much little in return. When you resent they end up negotiating if you are really worthy for them..
