Hi MyLotters,
We start discussion,we get replies, finally we choose the best response. But really speaking sometimes I find great difficulty while choosing the best response due to the fact that there are really some short and witty response.Sometimes the amount of writing hardly matters as long as it's carefully written.Yes,sometime the topic is best expressed with examples and hence it becomes elaborative. The worst part is to choose the best response when everybody is careful enough while answering. But still the chice is yours. So,dear, what kind of response do you prefer?
Thanks,
Happy MyLotting!!

It depends on the topic, if the topic is very interesting then I prefer reading response that has examples with it. Best responders have this attitude of bringing well-explained answers, the more elaborate the better. Some topics also doesn't require long answers, short but witty answers are fine since readers expect responses to be short. :)

I am happy with any response that contributes to the discussion. But, when a response is really witty and thought-provoking I really like it and this would make me give the BR. SOmetimes, when there are elaborate answers , describing an incident for a day to day queston, I like this too.So, this depends on my topic of discussion. Some topics would not warrant a thoughtprovoking answer.

I go for the long and elaborate replies. There's something special with the long replies because the effort is being made and you can clearly understand the what is the opinion all about. I also like the short and witty ones because they are short yet direct to the point. Not all people have long replies and I understand that.
Most of the time I choose the long replies because I think they are worth the recognition and for the thoughts that really counts. When the people reply with long elaborate ones they are really trying to participate the best way they could.

I'd choose one that is short but witty. In this day of busy people, readers would want to get the point right away at the shortest time possible. Conciseness is of utmost important. There is no use bringing your readers around when you can actually bring them straight home.

If I'm to read them all, I'd rather have them short and concise. But, as a professor who is fond of giving writing projects, I usually abhor the short ones because most of them are done lazily.
However, in mylot it's different. Remember that we're mostly here because of the earnings. The more descriptive the post (in short, Long), the more earning potential you have for that specific post. Therefore, I wouldn't take it the wrong way if the person ends up blabbering just to make the post longer. Though, it's truly an eyesore looking at a whole bulk of sentences in one paragraph, so I'd really appreciate it if the sentences were separated in appropriate paragraphs.
Further, as a reader, we do have the option to skip or skim through sentences or paragraphs to get the full idea. So, it's no problem if a responder opts to write his/her heart away.
Lastly, it does give me an assumption that people with longer posts give more time to thinking about your topic, therefore I do appreciate their efforts.

I prefer short and witty myself. It takes a sharp mine to think fast on your feet. Too long of a response leads some to believe you are making things up as you go along.

As far as I am concerned, I think i will enjoy both of the two kind of response in my topics. For the short but witty response can make me easy to read it over and understand the meaning so quickly. Further more, I still can enjoy fun from the short but witty ones. But the long but elaborative ones can be also good. It usually tells us a lot of some true things for people in details, which we can learn better in our life.

Hi,
Well sometimes it becomes obligatory to be a bit elaborated as the topic itself demands it to be so. But, usually I appreciate a very brief response, explaining everything in its few words. Sometimes the subject needs a little description. The recent discussion I started was one of them http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2294893.aspx though many people were brief in their responses. Witty responses are always the most desired ones. Good discussion
God bless you

Let's accept it, we tend to get bored reading long discussions here.As much as possible we want to know the gist of the topic just by reading the headline.
I give short but meaningful responses.I don't want to elaborate or speak in flowery english. I just want to be understood in the simplest way i know. And i give my impression straight to the point.

I don't really mind. If the long responses are relevant and informative then great. I like a bit of wit too, so I don't mind at all really.

In my perspective, I prefer the longer answers. The longer answers is a sign of interest and shows effort. I would like it when people actually take the time to type answers long enough to be read for over a minute. These long answers make the askers feel good about themselves. Remember, all what I am saying here is my own opinion. Others beg to disagree with me but, that is fine. You see long answer :)
