Will this be the turning point for Liverpool, or will this cause more instability to the club instead? What will be the fate of Torres next season?
This is certainly not looking good for a club that is tumbling down at the moment. There is just too much distraction surrounding the club, making it hard for Liverpool to achieve at least a top 4 position. What is going on?

I think its sad to see Liverpool not at their best, however is it the case that they are underachieving, or more down to the money at City which has pushed them into contention of a top 4 finish and the possible over-achievement of Spurs/Villa.
The off-the-field issues at Anfield are hardly in the same realms as the likes of Portsmouth or even West Ham, so the distraction is not exactly an avenue for blame.
I think this season Liverpool have simply lacked the level consistency which is expected of them. They can win by a number of goals on one week and then drop 3pts rather unexpectedly the next.
A mate of mine who is life-long Liverpool fan has been wishing Benitez out since almost the start of the season. I think ultimately a change of owners/manager might just be a re-birth for a club which looks to re-ignite the spark and return properly to the days of former glory.

since two American business man bought Liverpool until now they are driving this team to the corner ,they are in heavy debt ,and must sell their important player just because they do not have enough money like Alonso to Real last year ,Liverpool is in big debt but how about the owner they are getting richer not in debt what they want on Liverpool is just money they do not love soccer the king sport ,so better they sell this team to someone who is in love with this sport like the owner of Chelsea .

Mary,
I think we all know, that the EPL is by and large a business opportunity for many. You will be surprised to know that the three major shareholders in Arsenal have very little interest in football and do not even try to hide that fact.
In my opinion is that the two owners have started feeling that liverpool is losing its business appeal and want to cash in before it becomes too less appealing to get what they put in.

I hope this is a turn for the best for Liverpool. It is sad to see such a big club as Liverpool stuttering around thanks to ownership issues. I also hope that Rafa might now be out of Liverpool and a manager who can take them forward from here is definitely required.
Cheers!

I think its good for the club seeing that the Owners were not so popular with the fans and actually had riffs between themselves. Rafa has made some very buys over the seasons that have not really performed whilst selling pivotal players ala Alonso. I doubt pool will be able to make any significant buys and Stevie G is looking more and more unsettled and Ive even heard romours of Eastlands beckoning. so maybe a new owner will inject some badly needed cash and enable them to contend for honors in season to come. With Liverpools global appeal I shouldnt see attracting a suitable buyer being to hard, never mind the recession

Hi stormragetz,
As a fan of Liverpool, I am glad that Tom Hicks and George Gillett finally can think what is the best for them and for Liverpool FC. Since they took over the club, it reach its lowest level for many years. They did not bring anything to Liverpool except a HUGE debt. And they never spend a penny from their own pocket. All they do is borrowing it from other parties and all the profit that the club has made goes to settle the debt. That is why there is no money available to buy a new player.
I do hope that the new owner or owners would have much interest in football rather then ice hockey or baseball. It would be good if Liverpool can be a fans club like Barcelona or Real Madrid.
