I recently started a small business and I have found that most customers always want something for nothing. In the past few months when I give a customer a proposal they always come back and ask me if I can lower the price.
Most of them are small business owners as well and I can not believe how they feel that I should give them a special deal. Some have even lost money as they try to either get me down to a lower price or try to find some one else to do it for a much lower price.
I just don't under stand what is going on through peoples minds these days. I never see anyone walk into a store and pick up a $100.00 item then walk up to the register and say that they only want to pay 20 bucks for it.
I just wanted to through this out there.

Yes, we have a small family business too and do you want to know what we do?
Well, we put in a higher price and when the customer comes back wanting to negotiate we know we can lower our prices but not cut ourselves off short.
For example, someone wants us to build them a wall or whatever. We go measure it, suss out the customer work out our costs of materials and labour then add another 100 on to the price. When the customer comes back wanting us to lower the price we tell them the best we can do is take off an extra 100 euros. The customer now thinks he is getting a better deal. He's happy and we are happy.
