"Would you like to earn from PTC?" "Join under me. Be my referral." ANNOYING. :|

So, I've been getting a lot of private messages from different people, all basically saying the same thing:
Join PTC under them. Join a program. Earn money. Be their referral. Etc.
(No offense to those people)
I would just like to say that if people really wanted to join, they would. You don't need to send them private messages. It's just a bit annoying and irritating. :|
PLUS, I already INDICATED on my MYLOT PROFILE that I am NOT INTO PTC. I just wish that you people could read. That is why I posted that up, so I won't get any more private messages regarding PTC. So, yeah.
This just bugs me a bit. Well, maybe it's okay to promote your earning programs here. YOU ACTUALLY CAN. You can post it up on your profile or whatsoever. But sending private messages out of nowhere is just plain spam.
No one likes spam, right?
I'm not here to fight with anyone, I just want to voice out my opinion and give all of you a heads up.

It's stupid. When I have a friend request, I always check the profile and the blog if there is a blog. I received only two spam messages from the same new member and "friend", so it's not a great problem for me. Maybe have you more friends than myself to receive a lot of PM like this.

These social sites should never be used for spam. In fact these sites can be used very effectively to get referrals. But they, including myLot, have to be used in the correct manner. This does not include posting a bunch pf banners to your profile site in anticipation of getting a lot of referrals either.

I have so many Lotters, especially new ones, on my list but fortunately I am not 'pestered' with links in PMs.
Occasionally I will receive a message suggesting a site and I either already belong to it, or I suggest an exchange with one of mine. Sometimes they are very insistent so I just point out that if they insist with other users then they risk being reported for spamming.
Maybe my high number scares them off?

I agree and I hate when they say in the discussion I am making all of this money if you want to know PM me. You can just give the name of the site in the discussion without your referral link that is against the rules. Then we can go and look on our own and decide if we want to join or not. People need to stop PM or requesting to be a friend just to be a referral.
I scare them off I tell them when they PM me they have to sign on to my site and be active or no deal. I never hear from them again. You would think they would take the time to read your profile page but I am sure they are just requesting you from the discussion form and not even bothering looking at your profile.
I hope this will work for you and you will not get anymore spam.

Hi Jeeyah just relax you may always ignore it. Just delete the message and don't bother to reply at all. Fortunately, I only got a few of those links anyway. But I would rather see it in my PM than seeing it in the discussion because it is definitely a clear violation. There are a lot of new people here who had been violating the rules and it's very irritating already because they never bother to read the FAQs. Just ignore them.

I've been ignoring it, but I'm human and I get annoyed, especially when those PM's started to keep on coming almost regularly from different people. At first, I thought that only a few are doing that habit, but when I got more PM's, that's when I really felt the need to write about it. It's better to let them know in a way. It's just a sort of warning or eye opener.

The messages come are not spam because you have accepted the friend request of the person. All are here to make money so members will try to make money by referring you also.

These type of people who ask to be your friend do not care or even look at your profile. You are only a number to be exploited to them and once you allow then to be a friend then you allow them to send any type of PM they wish. It is simple to stop them just go through your list of friends and delete the ones who are abusing your friendship.

When i do get the pm;s from other users about sites that they think I might be interested in. I pretty much just ignore them, because it is like others have said, that if they would be interested in joining any site, they would check someone's profile. I don't like to be pushed into joining any site, but most of the time, it is up to me if I want to join or not. I want that uption as I don't like being told I have to do something I don't want to do. I really don't get all that many pm's than goodness. I am glad of that, as I will join a site if I want to, not because someone wants me as their referral. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

It does not both re me because I am also learning about these sites. I have not known about them and when I did try to do something on my own, well it was a mess lol.
I welcome the information, what gets me is when the person solicits me again, when I have already joined it, The personal feeling/relationship is gone and you know you are just a money earner for them. I know that is name of the game, but check to see if you have messaged me about he same thing before doing it again.

Exactly. I like information from those that have been doing it awhile and can give insightful information. I mean I joined one to day because of a discussion on it and my curiosity, lol. It is a hit or miss, I also like it when those people will take the time and also inform us about a possibility that it is not working for them or it turned out to be a something else and let us make an informed decision. I also ask questions and see if they respond, lol. If not then i do not join theirs.
I agree with being with cordial with people and not a statistic on their list of moneymakers. We can also delete their request to join their group or ignore it.. Good luck and take care.

I have the same experience as yours. Yes, it was exciting when I received my first PMs and I thought it was something else but turned out to be invitations to register as their referral too.
For the first two PMs I did register because I did not want to disappoint my "new found friends". But since I have really no time to participate much online except for the regular 3-5 responses I post in Mylot daily or every other day (I just like reading discussions and posting comments to some of them), I think they did not benefit from me anyway.
You're right though, this sometimes gets annoying for me too.

I guess you should've chosen your friends more carefully ;) People who are not your friends can't send you private messages... I personally only choose people who I know well as my friends, I never accept a friend request from someone I don't remember. This way I don't get any of these "spam" messages :)

Yea those spammy private messages on any site is really annoying. Sometimes I think some are using translators just enough so that they can send you an annoying message without reading your profile. Or maybe they are just new to promoting sites online and haven't figured out what is spam and what isn't.

I also experienced that here in mylot. But, I do entertain them since there might be a possibility that I could earn more and easier in what they are trying to promote.

I know i hate it when people do that, they are really annoying people.
The only advice that i can give you towards this subject is to take a firm hand, tell them in a mesasge what you think then delete them as a friend, i hope this has helped you.
