what do you think is happening to our planet? there have been a lot of geological activities lately - earthquakes in haiti, chile, baja, indonesia, spain, china,; volcanic activity in the philippines, iceland. then there are areas experiencing drought while other areas are flooded; experts say it's because of global warming. where are we headed? what do you think?

yes it seems. can we actually avoid the earthquakes, typhoons, volcanic eruptions and the like? i don't think so. but through public education we can certainly educate the masses to be mentally, psychologically prepared, to build shelters, rescue funds, food and necessities. we should stop deforestation and start planting trees along areas prone to flash floods and flooding. we can start building big covered drains to allow water to drain off in heavy rains. above all, the least we could do is to start sowing a good mindset.

you are right, we cannot avoid natural disasters; we can only try to prepare ourselves in order to survive them. we can also still try to prevent damaging our earth further and hope that we are not too late.

A friend and I have been talking about that yesterday. It seems that almost every week something happens to a country or group of countries concerning Mother Earth. We think that Mother Earth is screaming due to our decades of not really giving back Mother Earth what she deserves. It's really worrying to think that any minute or days now, something might happen in our area. That friend particularly worries because she and her family is located in an area where earthquakes are common and harsh. She's just counting the days when that will happen, and hopes that when it does, they'd be in the same area (family). I think we cannot really do anything now to help Mother Earth. I think it's time for her to heal herself to our expense. I just hope we could at least be ready or warned about it.

i like the idea that mother earth is healing herself; for me it's a totally new perspective. when natural disasters happen what we see is the destruction that results - that's from our point of view. i guess mother earth is just letting us know now that we have already done so much damage to her and she needs to 'recuperate'.
