Does anyone have any DIY sore throat cures?

My throat has been hurting for the last 3 days. I haven't gone to the doctor because I know it's just a cold, but my throat hurts pretty bad. I'm not one of those people who takes antibiotics when they get a cold because I know it won't do anything, so honestly I just want some pain killing until the cold runs it's course. Has anyone tried any of the things like gargling cayenne pepper or vodka or any of that stuff like this ( http://www.sore-throat-remedies.com/ ) and if so, did it actually work? I can definitely say that eating ice cream helps, but I'd like to try something a little healthier. Any suggestions? Thanks!

My grandmother used to give me a spoonful of honey when I had a sore throat, and it seemed to work.

1. Mix ½ teaspoon of salt with 1 cup of warm water. Dissolve it completely. 2. Gargle using the salt and water mixture at least 3 to 5 times a day. 3. Repeat step 1 to 2 for at least 3 days as needed, but not more than 6 days. Consult your doctor if soreness still persists. 4. Gargling can help moisten the soreness of your throat and can provide temporary relief of discomfort.

Hmm... I'm no medical practitioner but I belong to that family. Anyhow, usually my dad would just tell us to drink more water to soothe the throat. My grandmother would tell us to drink water boiled in ginger to ease the throat. Further, I have heard that as a medical emergency medication from someone who drank gasoline, you'd should not let him vomit it, instead you should neutralize it in his stomach, and to avoid the throat being burnt, one is required to gulp in raw egg. I think that could help with your throat as well because it's sore. But, I'd stick to the drinking more liquids or water for now.

drink many water as you can, it can be caused by bacterial organisms so you can take lozenges for sore throat. Try ginger tea.
