Hi, lady.
Same here. I like musical movies so much, both animated and live-action ones. I also like dance movies, like Step Up, Shall We Dance and so on. I think they are wonderful to behold, tickling your spirit, lighting up your hope...
Happy myLotting!

i LOVE classic disney movies. among the ones i like the most are the lion king, the little mermaid, beauty and the beast and my best bet, mulan. although some of the classic disney movies are not politically correct, with the prince charming always to the rescue and all, i still appreciate that these movies bring out the kid in us. mulan, strong, beautiful and wise, is the best disney heroine and ursula is just so epic, i love her. LOL

I have fairly wide tastes in movies but I must admit I really enjoyed Sweeney Todd. I never expected Johnny Depp to be able to sing that well :-D
Sometimes I like to watch the old black and white musical movies with Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra and the old "Road" movies with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby

Hi, lady1993. I have watched many musical movies before. And, they do make you feel good when you watch them. People are so happy and so full of energy. I like to watch gory movies, but nothing can compare to the fun and uplifting feeling that musical movies can leave upon me. I enjoy them too.

I really enjoy musicals. Not all the time but occasionally. I especially like The Sound of Music, Grease and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Some of the old vintage movies like Ginger Rogers and Fred Estaire. I like a good musical but good music not loud so you can't hear the words.

I liked that one also. And the one where he danced up the wall. I don't recall the name of it but I recall that dance.

I normally go for serious dramas, but every now and then I enjoy a musical. The last one I rented was "Mama Mia," and they had a karoke part where you could sing along with the words during the movie. So fun! Most of the time, I would rather see a musical on stage live at the theater rather than on film, but when I can't afford that, movies are a good substitute.
I loved "Moulin Rouge," and another movie with great music (for me) was "Marie Antoinette," which did the same thing...took modern music and combined it with an older time setting. I'd love to see more like that. I haven't seen "Sweeney Todd" or "Phantom of the Opera" (although I did see Phantom at the theater), so I might have to check those out.
Good topic!

When I was a child, my parents didn't let my sister and I watch newer movies. They were pretty strict, and we didn't even go to a movie theater until I was nine. So I grew up on older movies. Some of my favorites are Meet Me in St. Louis, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Pirate, Singin' in the Rain, My Fair Lady, and the recent Enchanted. That was a great modern musical movie.

I too enjoy watching musicals, unfortunately they are very rare nowadays. You have missed out that enchanting movie with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, " My Fair Lady" and " Mary Poppins" with Audrey again.Sound of Music, Gigi, Westside Story, were some of the great hits of the 60`s and " Singing in the Rain" in the 50`s. Later on came Cliff Richards in The Young Ones and Summer Holiday, The Beatles in Hard Days Night, Elvis in Girls,Girls,Girls and Viva Las Vegas, Jailhouse Rock and other movies. We also saw Pat Boone in a movie featuring his hits like Bernadine and Love Letters in the Sands etc. Yes, those were the days.

I am a postgraduate on reading now yet love Disney, Dreamwork movies very much, since the musics within which touch me in my heart. Such as Spirit stallion of the cimarron, the little mermaid, beauty and the beast, the lion king, sound of music,Phantom of the opera et al. It is because of the musics that I love them with all I have and appreciate each of them several times by myself absolutely. Truly, I would certainly share some tears every time enjoying them. The majority of them are old, seemingly old-fasioned according to someones' opinion, yet I really enjoy them. Just now, the beauty and the beast moved me once more time.

I also like watching musical movies but I also like watching other genres. I also like gore films but the mild ones or has only few scenes included. :) haha. I also like Sweeney Todd because Johnny Depp really did a good representation of his character. I also like the Sound of Music, its a classic but never fades out. :)

I do. But here in the Philippines I think we don't have too much musical movies. We only have a musical soap.

I watch all sorts of movies but when it comes to musicals I tend to prefer those from the golden era such as "Tea for Two", "On Moonlight Bay", "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and also the hilarious "How to succeed in business without really trying". I don't mind modern musicals but many of them lack the storyline which these older movies had.

I love musicals. I grew up watching Annie and Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. I'm a theater buff now, so I enjoy film adaptations of stage productions. I absolutely loved Nine!
I can't watch really gory films. Slasher flicks just aren't my cup of tea.
