Probably the best job in the world.....

I stumbled across this the other day. It appears that Danish brewery workers went on strike because of the companies new alcohol policy, which now only allows them to drink beer during their lunch break. It seems this policy was introduced on April 1st by the Carlsberg brewery. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100408/ap_on_bi_ge/eu_denmark_carlsberg_beer_strike What are your thoughts on this ?

Hi, Zone! I would be willing to bet that many people took the job almost entirely because theu could drink all they wanted while making a living. Such a change in policy would, of course, be extremely upsetting to them! For productivity, however, maybe the company needs more teetotalers on its staff!

I find it very strange that they would let people drink on the job in the first place The only restriction they have is that no one is allowed to be drunk at work and it is up to everyone to be responsible. Productivity wise I agree with you.

Sid, To have drinking on the job as a built-in perk doesn't make much sense to me, whether a person is a little buzzed or totally sloshed! How efficiently can they get the work done? I hope it doesn't apply to the drivers of the delivery trucks!

It's good to know the truckers ands all the other drivers are safe!

I guess that everyone will now apply for the job of taster. Before, they could all do it

I am not sure I could work under such a strict new policy only allowing one to drink on their lunch break

I believe that the company should never have allowed the employees to drink as much as they wanted to in the first place. I am sure that their productivity level is better now than it was in the past. I am sure that most of the people who are upset only took the job in order to be allowed to drink and work.

They can still drink during their lunch break though. I guess their productivity will only go down during the afternoon now.

I think a little smoke would do them good, they might see things a bit clearer than striking in a drunken stuper.

Sounds like a dream job. I am sure they do have tasters and quality control but in this case they were all at it

Kind of makes me want to bring out the violin and play a sad song. Heck we are discouraged from drinking even on our lunch, and the company certainly doesn't provide the drinks either!

I will play the violin along with you in this case. I think these guys have a bit of a nerve calling for strike action. I am wondering why their unions even went along with this
