Considering in the UK you can now bet on politics should you vote?

In the UK all the book makers now offer odds on all the political stats. Should this be allowed? If your from abroad would being able to bet on elections alter your view and/or vote? Is this actually illegal elsewhere?

It wouldn't change how I voted but I feel it would just be one more way for the political scene in the U.S. to become a circus.
