What's for Sunday lunch/dinner?

It's a Sunday and some people prepare something special for lunch or dinner because this may be the only day where everyone in the family is at home and can sit down to eat together. For our lunch, I prepared sauteed squash and fried fish. It may sound simple, but since my mother cannot eat rich foods, this is already a treat. Plus, the fish is as expensive as a half kilo of meat and this is only two fillets. But since its a Sunday, we can afford to splurge.
What about you? Whats for lunch or dinner?

Now that my family (mom, dad, sisters and brother) are grown and left, we don't do this anymore, but our Sunday lunch, right after church, was always fried chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. Sunday night, our treat was home-made ice cream with hot chocolate syrup. We always looked forward to Sundays (and payday, which was another special eating day).

Yes, I remember as a child that on paydays we were allowed a treat of ice cream. Thank you for your response!

Hi, anne25penn. I am cooking chicken wings. I may boil them this time. I usually will bake them. But, I want to do something more different with them now. We may have some white rice and vegetables with it too. Squash and fried fish sounds very delicious.

Hi, anne.
On Sundays there is a light breakfast, lunch and dinner fare as usual. We have rice, meat and vegetables for lunch and supper, normally, fried or steamed fish, braised chicken, stewed duck, beef soup and so on. And sometimes we eat out together, especially on public holidays.
Happy myLotting!

When I was a child, I don't remember dining out. But on Sundays, the food is always good. Thank you for your response!

We had "Nilagang Baka" for lunch. It's a Filipino dish where you boil the beef (with bones) it's like beef broth that has cabbages, snow peas and corn.
It's a very easy and famous Filipino dish. My second favorite (after Sinigang na baka which is similar to nilagang baka, only it tastes sour and has more veggies on it).
sauteed squash and fried fish sounds yummy, and very familiar. are you Filipino?

yes I am a Filipina and I also like nilagang baka, but with this heat I don't think I'll be comfortable after eating this yummy dish. Thank you for your response!

some sundays my son will fire up the grill and make some really good meat on there. just depends on how hard a week hes had and what mood hes in for cooking. hes very good at this and does the whole meal on it and gives me a break. besides it usually so hot here it saves on heat in the house
