What is Jesus?
What is Rose (flower)?
We go on projecting. About rose and Jesus.
Our mind is just completely filled and fixed from the very childhood.
Every thing has been given to us readymade, and through that readymade knowledge our whole life becomes an illusion.
Parents are going to fill in their children;s mind that Jesus is god. Rose is beautiful. This is good this is bad. They give all ready made answer. They don't give them to search and find out, the truth. They say just believe.
So you never meet a real person, you never see a real flower.
Children mind does not know anything about God, Jesus, rose...
They don't know rose is beautiful or not...
Just by hearing from parents and people..."Rose is beautiful" is in your mind; children mind. The moment you hear "rose", the mind projects and says"it is beautiful"
Do we also know, Rose is beautiful?? how rose became beautiful, what makes it beautiful???
Do you like this concept of teaching? it's a readymade answer..
so if you give readymade answer...then there will not be a discover...
So i'd like to say , " don't believe what you heard" They are al not true. You have to seek , search, find out...what is real, what is truth.
Rose ! it's nothing, just a flower.. just like other flower..just we give or believes that it's more beautiful...and we starts giving rose to beloved ones.... You make rose beautiful.
I'd ask for parents? do you like to give readymade answers to your children?
I'd like to say to peoples, don't believe what you heard? seek, search...
N i'd like to said to children, doubt as much as you can? that the only way to know the truth.
What you feel, drop your ideas...about my opinion.

In mind of the children, we do not plant trees; we only sow the seeds of ideas. These ideas take root if you nurture them further. They begin to proliferate and bring forth fruit. Mere telling them about rose is not enough. You have to actually show it to them, where they bloom and spread their fragrance. Ask them to plant roses themselves. Teach them how to graft a rose, to produce variety of roses. Then only they would know what a real rose is.
While telling them about Jesus, highlight the kindly and humane qualities of Jesus. Tell them in what way he was different to us humans. Let them find out for themselves why we do not come across the likes of Him in everyday life. When they will begin to compare they would know who Jesus is.

Ya, i know you are real Christian,
you have replied my various discussions related to Jesus.
You don't afraid with the questions. I really appreciate your courage. I really like that in you.
I am not flattering you, i like this answer too.. you have given it from different point of view and from different angles.
I know most of the christian will not answer this question.
They don't like some one other talking about Jesus. I know..
You should remember, If you sow a seed of orange, it will become tree and it will starts giving oranges. It will not starts giving apples.
If you sow a seed of Jesus, Christain, Buddhist,HIndu, then it will give their own fruits.Their feeling when being adult it;s hard to change..
Ya in the next para...you are okay...not only Jesus, you should encourage then to find out others humans, other gods..
You must say, you dare to say.. you are free to choose....what ever you like..whether it;s Jesus, Krishna,Allah etc...
Any way thanks for your answer, achilles

Thank you vine, you are right; to me Jesus is the lord of this age. When there was none to lead, he came to lead. However, I respect all other leaders too. I have lots of respect for all the symbols too. They have their own significance. They all point to Jesus. Thanks again for vine for appreciating my answers on various topics of discussion. I am looking forward to more.

I belief that religion is an experience to be lived not something to learn from books or imposed by society or family on others. Being a christian implies having a personal relationship with God. The family can play an important role to instil values in their children and to teach about God. However if the relationship with God remains at that stage it is a childish one. AS two lovers, they must meet to get to know each other, a relationship with God implies that one must seek, question and learn about God.

Teaching a child the difference between right and wrong isn't destroying anything. It instills a set of values that tell the child how it's supposed to behave in almost any given situation. Without morals, civilization as we know it wouldn't be possible.
Does that mean that all children who are taught what their society or parents consider "right" and "wrong" continue to believe those things as they grow up? Absolutely not! We all change based on our experiences, and our free will lets us cast off the things we no longer believe in. Very few people, if any, take everything they're told at face value these days.

By doing something like teaching morals, right and wrong..you are destroying their freedom of search..
I prefer to teach them fear (love) of God, respect themselves and love thy neighbours. If that is conditioning and destroying their freedom of search, I prefer to do that than have a bunch of students without an aim in life and end up being junkies.
I do agree with frugalmommy, if you teach values...i do believe that my students have a brain to evaluate what I am saying. Hopefully they will be able to choose between right and wrong. You cannot leave someone in a vacuum for years until he is able to judge for himself and then he can be able to choose right from wrong when he is an adult...

Whenever possible I would go out and find the truth for myself besides what I read on newspaper or from the net. This will get me a bigger clearer picture which could be censored or omitted from what we see in the media. For example I understand from the media on how Muslim do their religious practice but you won't understand much until you talk to a Muslim yourself or visit the place of worship. I was surprised that the Muslim people are very inviting and wanted others to understand more about them, and not every Muslim resort to using violence and killing like what we've seen so much in the media. We have to embrace another way of seeing things.

hello, naka,
i really enjoyed your new thoughts. Ya we have to understand and feel by oneself, whether by head in the news or read in the books.
We have to become face to face. really good thoughts.
I also don't like media these days, 95% they are broadcasting, telling, writing bad things..crime, die..something like that...They only broadcast negative things a lot...
May be the world is really bad.. much more crime..killings..
Ya you said, everything stated in the media is not true..because media is controlled by government... and money.. something they can earn from reporting..

i have to agree with you very much on this. i was taught things by my parents that simply just were so wrong it boggles the mind. thankfully i possess an inquisitive brain. i questioned everything, doubted everything.. and wanted to make up my own mind and oppinions for myself.
and this is how i teach my own children. to discover, to wonder, to seek out their own truths for themselves and their own lives. while some things are simply wrong and right ( dont hurt people/animals/other living things.. dont lie, dont cheat etc etc) for the rest of things.. what they decide is right for them is their own truths that will shape their world and themselves into who they ultimately grow up to be.

Tessah,
Thank you , for what you have done .
I really appreciate your ideas..
You knew this , because you have experience it. And you don't want your children in the same.......which happens to you..
Ya you are doing really great things with your children..by doing this we were helping them to be genius.
I don't like mother or father being burden for their children. Let them be free... they want freedom...want's to fly in the sky...so free like birds...just help them ...how to fly...love them.....don't give them your opinion....because they have their own opinion and own world...
Just help them to be of themselves...
thanks

Things in the physical world, like the beauty of a flower, are a matter of opinion. When it comes to learning about Jesus, I agree with you that the individual shouldn't necessarily believe just because someone makes certain claims; but don't dismiss the person without doing your own research to determine whether of not what is being said is the truth.

I have seen in my years of being a mother that there are some times that I will give a ready made answer to my children. Most of the time when these are the kinds of answers that I give are when I don't know a way in which I can expose the children to something where they are able to make their own creations. However, I definitely don't think that ready made answers are the best way to teach your children and thus I spend a lot of time with my children allowing them to explore the world around them.

dora...
I really appreciate you..
your ideas...
being a parents or mother, you are doing really good things to your children....We just need to help them... we just need to show the way...because they have to walk by themselves...for their life....
Ya, "i don't know" That's the good answer you give to your children.
I also love this sentence I DON'T KNOW.
"i don't know" this knowing that "i don't know". This awareness that i am ignorant, gives you opening. Then you are not closed. The moment you say I KNOW. you are closed circle. The door is no more open. But when you say i don't know, it means you are ready to learn. It means the door is open.
if you say some body, that i don't know... then only they will explain to you...
if you say i know everything, then they don't say anything...you loose their opinion..you loose to gain knowledge...some thing like that..

hi vine wow you do make me think. i do not remember any one telling me a r ose is beautiful or not beautiful. My parents guided me but also as I lived on a farm let me explore and think for myself. I figured out that a rose bloom is pretty, and so are lilacs, and snapdragons, and larkspur and marigolds and on and on. I went to sunday school and to church and I learned about God and Jesus. okay. so what. So what makes a rose beautiful.? look beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder,.nobody told me to think roses are beautiful snap you are told. we have minds and feelings and we can figure out things for ourselves. I have never just given ready made answers for things that depend on the person to figure out as one man's beautiful rose might not be another. to me lilacs are much more beautiful. of course doubt is good about learning as thats the only way new things were discovered a nd invented . I think what you are talking about is the same thing as thinking outside the box and not just accepting something because someone else said this or that was true. That way we can create new things we never have had before.

Of course you should find your own answers to everything. All through life we are being told what to think, instead of being taught How to think. The media tells us what to eat, drink, wear, play, and be. And no one ever teaches us to think our own thoughts, it is like we are a colony of ants, all being lead by the few in power, to their ends, instead of our own.
Some few of us, learn to think for ourselves, and slowly we are starting the revolution of free thought for the world over. And by Free Thought, I mean free from prejudice, from stereotyping, from bias, and from hate.
We will all learn to do what is best for us, based on information and facts, instead of opinions. We will learn how to think critically, and for ourselves, instead of letting others do our thinking for us, and if we are wise, we will let the Holy Spirit into our lives to help us, to guide us to know what is right and the truth of all things.
With Appreciation.

Very Very Good! This is one that I had to learn. Point and send them off to discover. God is doing this all the time. All the secrtes of the universe are all around us to discover. No packaged answers from God. Hmmm????If God is doing this, there must be great wisdom behind it. So when you get packaged answers from man on any subject, not just religion, this should be the start on the journey to discovery rather than the end. Great discussion. I should of thought of it. You are wise.

There are many different places to find the truth or answers to your problems or many questions. Now there is an internet with all kinds of research tools so you can look up stuff and get a more clear answer to your queries. I think now parents just say look it up online rather than get a weird answer from their parent.

I do believe in reality and always want to find out truth regarding any aspect. when we are child parents did their job by informing us, warn us and we get readymade answers. what is real that is GOD. how we search god? God is in our soul, so why search here n there. there are many other things which we need not to believe but we , the humans are getting lazy day by day and we don't want to do much effort for anything. each one likes to be ready made but someday every one has to believe that HARD WORK repays.

Vine, I agree with you that a person should seek and search. But. Our minds are not "completely filled and fixed from the very childhood" like you say. I believe our mind expands like the big bang. Ideas are like stars in the sky. The young stars are ideas that are nourished by the universal substance which is our parents, teachers, friends, adults, media, and authorities. Since our minds are expanding like the big bang and we are constantly learning, there is no way our minds are fixed. On another note, I think our parents, older adults, and teachers plant seeds in our mind. As the seeds grow into plants, they need nurturing. Hopefully, as you seem to say, the adults will teach the child to learn how to think, how to think logically. But since our minds are not fixed, we still have time to learn as adults. Don't forget that the parents give their ready made answers because many of them had an education when they were young. Much of the education may be wrong. But the child does learn to think for himself. That's why you have some families where the parents were liberal and a child might be conservative and vice versa. So you teach the child what you believe and as they get older, they'll make up their own minds what they believe.

I used MyLot Search to look for Khalil Gibran. His life was very interesting and a little sad. I wanted to add that we learn what is beautiful, what smells good, what we like in music and taste, on our own. For example, I didn't start eating spinach until about three years ago even though my parents tried to make me eat it when I was young. I like red, so any thing that is red, like a rose, is beautiful. I liked the smell for lilacs before I ever saw one. And I like the sparkle of diamonds. Unless a child is brainwashed, he knows what he likes and believes. I don't like a red rose because of my parents but because I like the color and form of a rose. My parents didn't teach me about Jesus, the Sunday School teacher did. I watched movies about Jesus, and I sought and found.

When a kid asked you if rose is beautiful, how could you answer?
I think in most cases you will answer that rose is beautiful.
Sometimes an answer is necessary and we don't care if the answer
is right or wrong.
I sorport that you said we should to seek and search and find out
the right answer.
happy mylot!

thats only SOME parents/caregivers...I am NOT one of them...When my kids started asking religious and spiritual questions I gave them resources on NUMEORUS religions..I told them what I BELIEVE but also that is only MY choice....not theirs, they needed to find their way to whatever was best for them on their own..My job was to give them the resources to do that..the rest was up to them....LOL and for the record I personally dont find roses beautiful at all..in fact I think they are way over-rated HOWEVER I do find lilies and orchids beautiful BUT my kids were never really told that until they were older (it just never came up)
This is good this is bad.
As a parent, in some aspects of life that is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY! Its our job to keep our children safe and part of doing that is letting them know what things are bad/dangerous and what things arent....

Hi vine, I completely agree with you, we should all be allowed to decide for ourselves, to search out the truth. Most children are brainwashed before they're six years old. Of course they have to be warned of dangers and taught proper hygiene but in many other things they should be allowed to decide for themselves. Religion especially, should not be taught to children as truth and they should be encouraged to wait until they are adults and have read about all sides and can see what's happening around them to make such decisions. It is not only religious people who do this to children but atheists as well and both are wrong and are completely unfair to their children. Blessings.

i think you are correct. but you cant see every thing with suspicion, many times you have to believe on people for what they are saying. and not every time they are fake.
i think some time we get the advantage of other's experience and some time we get disadvantage of our inexperience.

AS far as I am concerned, I think it all depnes what I just heard from my friends. If what he said is about the fact or truth, I think I will just believe it without any doubt. But some times, it is not like this. I think , then I should try my best to find out the answer to the question. With so correct answer, I think I will just believe it as soon as possible. THis is just some of my opinions for sharing.
