I like to know how you handle a teenager about 14 - 17 year old that cannot read. She or he can read alphabet but cannot pronouns the verbs! And it's very tragic when this teenager cannot write a sentence if you give a word for she or he to make a simple sentence. Csn you tell me? We could share the idea.

First is determine if the kid has alexia (inabilty to read, or difficulty) or agraphia (Inability to write). These are brain problems so no matter what you do, or how to teach them in the traditional way, they will not be able to learn. Because their brains can not process symbols. I would suggest that bring the teens to a neurologist and a psychologist after, then probably a SPED class if indeed their is a problem.

Thank you, for you information, I have met the mother of the teenager but no response, so it will have to be me to take some action to help. What do you think about drill from a word that make them a sentence. I have met a kid 20 years back that I gave exercises and it work and the kid past grade C. Do you think it will work out?

I think it still best to rule out the diseases I have mentioned because if the problem does really exist, chances are the drills may not be as effective. Also try to look at the side of some psychological problems because children that has been "technically abandoned" has difficulty learning. It seems the parents has abandoned the children by not giving them the proper attention that they really need.

Patience is the key! We need this to help them to learn. They may be in the hard time of learning. You can help them by giving them the right pronouncation in every alphabet before going to sentences. After the pronouncation of alpabet you need to apply them in to a word. As simple as word like 5 to 8 letters first. And explain them what is the meaning of the word. You can do by explaining in thru drawing or by acting. AFter that then apply into a sentence. You can do it.

That's the idea from the begining. It's a big step to make a dream for the teenager to 'see the world' in reading and writing comes true. Yes, with love and hard working the program will work out.
