I used to create different crafts when I was younger. My favorite crafts is from used materials like old magazines and newspaper, buttons and old materials. I had tried knitting, crocheting, sewing and making baskets. I used to crochet doll clothes and this was the craft that I had made money from. Not too much but I was able to sell many doll clothes.
Do you also love crafts. Share us about it.

I make jewelry. I started making glass bead jewelry, found it to be a very competitive field, and made the switch to authentic sea glass jewelry a couple of years ago. I also sell online, in a few galleries/gift shops and at craft fairs. It's not enough to support the family, but it is a decent secondary income that helps pay the bills, so it's worth my time and effort... and since I have collect sea glass for many, many years, I have a decent supply of "beads" to choose from .
I love crafting and hope one day I'll have much more time to devout to learning how/making handmade items.

It is fun. I get to walk the beach and see what "supplies" the ocean has left behind in her tides. Many times, DH and our sons go with me, so it's a family outing (of sorts)we are outside, getting exercise too!
I included an image of one of the bracelets I made last week.

That's a good idea of crafting. I haven't heard yet of glass jewelry.

Keep doing it and you will polish your skills. Perhaps one day you will find yourself selling what you created.

When I was younger I made decors made from shells, baskets out of bamboo and coconut midribs, and hats from old newspapers. I sold those items to the people in our community. It was surprising that even I was still in high school, people trusted me to make decors for them. I got an order to make a family tree made from popsicle sticks and some other art materials. I also designed some coin banks for sale. When I went to college I stopped working on my crafts but after many years of being an employee I got tired and went back to working on my crafts. This time I am crafting beaded jewelries and still sell them. I started with my beaded jewelry business three years ago. I do it part time coz I am still working on fulltime basis. I enjoy working on these crafts so much.

Over the years I've made lots of money with my crafts. I live in a small town, and there was lots of opportunity to make extra. I did a lot of crafts work for local stores. I made twig furniture that was sold locally (helped to have a large woods to get free supplies from lol) I made rope macremae (sp?) hangers for another store, and did lots of stencilling. For the stencilling the person, or store, would give me their business card and I'd re-produce the image on a series of stencils (one stencil to be overlaid over another) to get intricate designs and colorings. Back then I didn't have a way to enlarge images, so I'd do them by hand (sometimes as big as a door lol) Often then I'd have to teach the store owner how to use the stencils, or do it myself (for extra:-) I've sold afghans, and made personalized glass etchings. The one thing I made the most money on was the Victorian reproduction twig furniture. I love all kinds of crafting, whether it's sewing, crocheting, building things, or painting.

I currently make beaded jewelry and have for many years. I would love to concentrate on doing this all the time instead of my part time job but I need to work outside of the home for the pay and the benefits. I sell my jewelry online, home parties, craft shows, etc. Only wish I had more time to devote to it.

Beaded jewelries is the trend now and a lot of people love it. Keep making them and selling. I used to dream of becoming a crafts business woman but it did not materialize. While you are young make your dreams come true. Good luck.

I love making crafts and the problem with me is that I have too many projects on the go. I eventually return to prior projects and finish them off. I think I start one then find another that interests me. I crochet blankets that are nice colors and give them as gifts.
The nearby store has some of my necklaces made from beads in the daisy pattern and they are on the shelves there but they are not selling. I'm hoping this summer they will do well.
Have a nice night

Hi, I was like that. I have so many interests and got lots of things going on in my mind that i seldom become successful in one. Now that I have found writing, I am concentrating on it. As much as I love going back to crafts making, I am trying to contain myself so that i will not change my mind again and leave writing. I would advise you to concentrate on one crafts, develop it well and perhaps you can make money from it. Good luck.

I paint and I make photomanipulations, I also like to knit and to make my own cards. I have sold some of my paintings, some of my photomanipulations and some of my cards. I haven't tried to sell the things that I knit, I only make things for myself and my family.
I had an art exhibition last year and I am thimking about making another one, because that could be a way to sell more paintings. I am able to rent a room in the art museum if I want, but it is pretty expensive so I am still thinking about it. In the future I would to make more cards, and maybe papercuts and some decoupage, it would be nice if I could sell those things as well.

I never tried selling my craft, but I do love creating them. Whenever I make something, someone will always ask for it. That makes me happy. I know if what I made is ugly because no one want it...

Even if you don't sell your crafts, you can go on making them if you love crafts.

I love crafts. I make fashion jewelries using swarovski crystals and 10k gold wire, I also make accessories made of different beads and stones and I sell those, I also do crochets and cross stitch, I've tried weaving tiny baskets using recycled paper and many more. I also have customers that order accessories and dresses for their tyler dolls. I guess we both have the same skills and passion for crafts, there are times that I don't really like doing any of those but when I do I always end up sleeping 3 or 4 in the morning. Happy day!

That's true. Making crafts is addictive. Once you start it you don't want to stop. I cannot find time to do crafts now because I am busy writing in different writing sites. Hope to go back again some day.

In today's financial situation more and more people are looking to crafts to make money, even selling their wares directly in the street. From what I have seen, there is still a good market available for things like jewelery, but it must be unique! Mass produced material just wont sell. Each item is for one particular customer who appreciates that no one else has such an item. Thus, the major problem is coming up with new ideas and designs.

I agree with what you said, crafts is really something that needs the creativity and resourcefulness of the creator. The competition is stiff and one just have to be smart enough to have unique products.

I am an accessory designer and have made several earrings, bracelets, necklaces, beaded watches, hair accessories, crystal bouquets, other beaded charms and I truly find joy making and sharing my art with others. I usually use swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, rhinestones, semi-precious stones and fabric as materials.
