I have read at many places that battery has a life of in number of chargings. As it could be nearly 300 chargings.
So i decided to consume less battery while on power and donot charge battery every time. So i start my laptop on battery then disable the charging.
Tell me if it is a good practice.

I didn't completely understand what you said but if you have the option just unplug your battery and then plug in the power cable. When you want to use it battery only use all the battery and than charge it until it's full. Just don't charge it all the time even when you don't have to because it will die soon.

I just heard this news that battery has life of 300 chargings only. is it really true?
well, if we are using laptop, it is always advisable to use battery instead of electricity or both. When the battery runs low, standby the laptop and charge till full. becareful not to overcharge it as it may cause the battery to leak and shorten the battery life. i have use my laptop in this way and i believe it has been more than 300 charges, yet it still function well. I have had it for 3 years. it's old. It's not updated, yet it still function really well. LOL

It doesn't matter as the manufacturers built the batteries with QA standards. It does really have charging life because it was built that way and due to the limitations of the technology.
