anyone here whose dream is to be a king/queen? do you think you can handle a kingdom and the responsibilities that these position carries? In our century these position are merely a symbol, a representation if i'm right currently there are only 36 countries in the world that has kings/queens but they are not the one that runs the country anymore, they have prime ministers, they don't have political powers nowadays. What do you think is it better to have a king/queen run the country of a different form of government is more suitable

No, I'd hate it! I'd hate the lack of privacy and all the people saying nasty things about me, like how I was a waste of space and money! All the gossip and stuff made up in the media. All they are these days is celebrities. Okay, so there would be some positive aspects to having all the money that would come with the job, but I don't think you could really enjoy it if you weren't free to come and go as you choose. At least not without the world's press watching! I live in a country that still has a royal family, and no, they don't really have much say in anything. And I'm not a royalist, which is another reason why I wouldn't want to be queen, lol! However, my daughter tells me that I will have to be queen one day, seeing as when she grows up she wants to be a princess. So I might have to be one after all!

My dream would be not to be a King, but to live normally with family, own home, two children and lovely wife in my bed.

So anybody really can't choose to be a king or being normal.I guess it will depend if you are born in a royal family or just a commoner. But freedom in everything will be the best power to have in this world, though there are many people out there that wants another kind of power.to rule..

Becoming a Queen/King this time of age? Nah. All these royalties do are for show. They don't really handle matters of state. They're just there as icons. Plus sources of entertainment by the media. Worst, they're borne on it and they don't really have a choice unlike actors and actresses.

In my country we have a queen. She just turned 70 and she is a popular person. She always receives lots of different presents on her birthdays, and the magazines write a lot about her and the other members of the royal family. When I was a child I was jealous of her because of all the presents but now I am not jealous at all, I would hate all the attention that she gets. The magazines love to write about the different aspects of her life, and I would miss my privacy if I were her.

If I was given the chance, I wouldn't mind to turn into a nowadays queen, as I can live being rich without having to work anymore, and be protected by law just in exchange of not doing anything at all. It's all advantages! -I hope this explains what I think about the useless kings and queens nowadays-. However, I wouldn't like to be an ancient queen. I dislike big responsibilities.

As you say, kings and queens are only symbols today, but a lot of them do significant charity work and are not totally worthless. In the past, many kings, and a few queens too, were war mongers and did quite despicable acts. Every child soon learns that the fairy tale royalty do not exist in reality, much as we would like them to. The love of Princess Diana was, in my opinion, this kind of wishful thinking that sadly wasn't justified. However, there are countries in the world that seem to thrive under a dictator and disintegrate under so called democracy. Many of these did have kings in the past. The passing of the monarchy is regretted by many..

I strongly agree with all the facts that you said.Indeed many crimes were committed by these royalties in the old age, many kids dream to be one when they're still small but as they grow old they realize what is really happening. In our times they are not that powerful anymore but some of them are still influencial and helpful.take for example the japanese emperor and empress, they engage in many charity works, very down to earth royalty, they don't wear expensive jewelries.Their hobby is actually farming rice field and attending to their garden

I dunno since I haven't been one yet! But I guess seriously speaking, even thought their position is rather symbolic already but I think behind that lavish lifestyle they have and the wealth they have in hand their lives are pretty much imprisoned in their lovely palace. It would be nice to live in that place for a short time but perhaps living there for the rest of your life would be boring already. I think a man should be able to roam and be able to freely experience his world. Being a Royalty limits him to the palace and really never enjoys the outside world because if he does he is not free to enjoy since there is always security that will tail and protect him from any harm. As a private citizen I can do as I will and no one is trailing me all the time and keeping my private life private is my business. That is the life I want without those nosy guards and curios public.

No way. lol I don't want the responsibility of an entire country. And I definitely don't want to be watching my back every second because of people wanting to kill me.
