I am thinking of buying a new laptop. can anyone recommend a good laptop that's good for photo/video editing and also for entertainment at a budget of less than $800? where's the best place to buy a laptop? any website that ships free to the Philippines?

Where in the Philippines are you located? There is this great place in Quezon City called "Gilmore" that has a strip of computer shops. It's like the "divisoria" of computers. Shops I could remember from Gilmore are PC Gilmore and Gaisano. I don't know if the ship though. You could drop by there. It's very easy to locate. Just ride the LRT2 (purple line) going to recto. Get off at Gilmore station and Go down the exit w/c is the opposite of St. Paul. If you want to avail of shipping, you could try ebay.ph or sulit.ph Just a heads up, free shipping isn't really free shipping. Those offering free shipping have super inflated the price of the computers to compensate the shipping cost. Shipping laptops cost more since it has a large price value and special handling is required On average Core I3 series are around 35k (this around your $800 w/o shipping), Core I5 - 40k, Core i7 - 50K for acer/asus and the likes. The Core I series is good for photo and video editing since most have dedicated video cards (meaning they don't borrow memory from your RAM), and has a QUAD core processor. These also include 2GB RAM and 320 GB SATA HD There are lower end laptops for sale too, they cost cheaper, and if you're not a power user, you won't notice the difference until you have installed a lot of applications on you computer. Core 2 Duo is around 30k and Dual core around 27k. Nothing beats a desktop though. It's processing is by far the greatest for end users. Use Quad Core or Core 2 Quad processeors
