skype with better quality but worst service?

everytime there is a new version of skype I see that have a lot of improvements. the quality and the duration of the call are improved. But they stop giving maintenance to other sevices like the applications they use to have or the discussion groups. I think that the discussion groups t hat the version 3.8 use to have were great. what do you think about this new attitude of evolution of skype?
