I've started working out but i can't keep away from all those good and sweet snacks! what are some healthy alternatives to chips, chocolate, and candy? are there any simple snack recipes you would be willing to share? or any ideas of healthy everyday snacks?

FRUITS......that is the best healthy alternative especially if you are taking it with an empty stomach. If you do, it will detoxify your digestive system and supply great energy. It also contribut a lot for weight loss. try it...

Hi barkey, I think there are many healthy snacks you can try. Fresh vegetables are low in calories and have many antioxidants, and many have no fat with plenty of fiber to satiate you. Fiber has also been shown to lower cholesterol. Hummus, made from chick peas, is a great alternative protein without saturated fat. Eating a healthy snack of a piece of fruit or some raw veggies can tame your hunger without ruining your appetite for your next meal.
Thanks.

well, i am really not sure about that what
I am going to say, but asI know all the
snacks are unhealthy, just because they are snacks-
something that we can eat on walk and something
that is prepared also very fast!

Hi Barkey,
I have been in your situation before...I was working out but cannot keep myself away from junk, sweet & all unhealthy fatty foods....so i have seek an advise from my dietitian/nutritionist friend & she actually gave me an alternative to all the unhealthy foods i'm eating...in between meals...i'm having a portion of either apple, pears or banana...and together with it a portion of either carrots, cucumber & celery & happily got the result i needed....fit & healthy...

I'm trying to replace my unhealthy snacks with carrots, apples, almonds, and grapes. I'm not a celery fan, but ants on a log is a good, relatively healthy recipe. It just calls for a stick of celery, then put some peanut butter on it, and then a couple raisins.

Almonds are a good choice, as they provide crunch - like chips! REally most nuts provide a healthy crunchy snack. Orange slices or bananas are good too. A little bit of dark chocolate is good for you so I try to grab a bag of something like chocolate covered cranberries and such (just make sure it's dark chocolate).

Yes, fruits are really healthy for you. You may also want to add yogurt. They're low in calorie, and they make you feel full easily. They also have good bacteria which is good for your tummy. Whole wheat chips and granola bars are also healthy alternatives. If you have 5 minutes, you can make yourself some tofu smoothie. There's really a lot of healthy snacks which are also delicious. You just have to be creative.
