Unfortunately I dont get on mylot as much as I would like to. But I love the site mostly for the array of thoughts and opinions. So what are some good points or advice for posting a discussion? Not just wanted is already posted in the FAQs section, but things you have learned from experience? Does the title play an important role? I had one discussion I really thought was interesting and would have had some sort of response or feedback. I was looking forward towards finding like minded individuals. How important is the tagging? What do you think is the best way to tag a discussion? All advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi sleepyredd, The most important thing when we want to started a new discussion is the topics/interest. If we want to have a good number of responses, just make sure our topics is not restricted by any means (cultural, education, technical ability or geographical area). Making a discussion with those restriction would limited our discussion to those who is covered in that particular thing. Make it answerable by everybody. Title also play a little bit role to attract other to at least open our discussion and read it. They need to read it first before they give their response... right. More people read our discussion mean more possibility for our discussion being responded. It is also related to the numbers of friends in our friends list. The longer lists of friends we have, our discussion has more exposure. If our friends put "ON" their notification on us, they would receive a notification every time we started a new discussion. They could also find it at the "friends started" discussions instead of looking at "new" tab. Tagging is useful because people could find our discussion if they look for the right tag using the search bar. Beside that, our discussion also would appear at the right hand side of the related discussion ------------- Give as many tag as you can and just make sure it is related to your discussion. One more thing is commenting on your responses. It is very important in term of discussion. Just imagine that you ask someone a question at your offline life, he or she answer it then you just walk away. How do you feel? Is it right? So, this is also apply here. And more so because this is a discussion. Good luck.

i'm agree with you. If a discussion thread is only discussed for limited scoped, the response will be in a small scope too. It is better to post Headline that can be read worldwide, or globally topic that every person can join the discussion. But in some case, people like to post what inside of mind instead cling to this. To make them ease and share their idea though some people doesn't like it. But it depends on us, because there is restriction to fill our idea out as long as it doesn't offend anybody.

I enjoy picking topics that I have passion about whether it is an environmental issue, health ,advice or politics. So I will make sure to try to gear it so that it is interesting to more of the masses. And thinking my titles through more carefully. Thank you both for the wonderful advice.

Well personally I think some of the best advice I can give when starting a New discussion is find topics of interest others are interested in talking about. Also keep your discussion worded with ideals on what you're wanting to share and keep it a Quality type of discussion as well. Overall it does not really matter on the length of it as long as it is well written and thought out as well. Also a good thing to consider is finding people in here you can count on as friends who might be interested in wanting to get to know you more thru your discussions you start especially when you take time to go in and check their discussions out and respond back to them as well. And you might actually find some of them become some Great friends you can always relate with more as well. Hope this helps you, and wishing you the Best.
