It depends upon exposer of the system to internet and to other media. Moreover installed antivirus takes care of. Usually I do it weekly.

It also depends on what you download and how good the anti virus is at detecting viruses when they are downloaded. I would say 1/week should be good.

I scan my computer once every three weeks..I use Avira AntiVir and Smart Virus Remover..But if I notice that the computer is acting strange and getting slow, I perform a virus scan immediately..Haven't been infected with virus recently though..Most of the problems I encounter are just Registry and Defragmentation problems in which I use TuneUp Utilities to fix them..

since i always stay online, i usually update and scan my laptop once in two days. I am afraid of being infected by any viruses so i make it safe by doing that. nice post joe.

I am using Avira antivirus. I scheduled my anti virus to scan daily at 3am in the morning when I am asleep. By the time its finished, my computer would be virus free for the whole day until I do something cooky with my laptop again..haha

I do scan our computer everyday to make sure that it is free from any virus. Also I always scan first whenever we use USB just to make saure again that it won't affect our computer.

I do scan everyday. My virus scanner only have an option either every 4 hours or 24 hours. It will help specially if you are browsing the internet daily, then just have it updated daily too.

I have it to scan automatically every day. I use Microsoft security essentials which I heard a pretty good antivirus. I also use Malware bytes antimalware and Spybot search and destroy. Computer safety is a pretty important thing to me and that is why I scan my computer for viruses a lot.

Run a full scan during the first installation of your operating system. Next, intruding viruses are always monitored by your anti-virus program. So don even bother for viruses.. Stay protected!! Use "Avast" anti-virus software for best results..

To be honest... I only scan my computer for viruses when I suspect there is a possibility of a virus, I mean when the PC gets slow or some strange behavior occurs, I know I have to do regularly, but the scan takes a lot of time and I don't like that. I have a good protection pack in my computer and I didn't have any virus for so much time.

I think that the computer that I use is set up to automatically scan for viruses every day... I think this is a little extreme, haha, but it's what my brothers choose.

I scan my computer every night while I sleep, with 3 different antivirus programs. I use Malwarebytes, ExterminateIt, and AVG. I do this because I do a lot of surfing on sites that may not be so upbeat in purpose, and my computer is often infected with some form of Malware. These nightly scans keep my computer running in tip top shape and eliminate the malware before it has any chance of disrupting my use of the machine.
