Do you ever wonder where our tax dollars are being wasted on the Frist Lady's Staff of 24 people........Keep in mind that the Frist Lady has NO OFFICAL OFFICE OR TITLE. Her only claim to fame is she's married to the President of the United states..... Also remember that Hillary Clinton only had three staff member, Jackie Kennedy only one, Laura Bush one, and prior to Mamie Eisenhower social help cam from the President's own pocket....... WHY AREN'T WE UPSET OVER THE SALARIES ADDING UP TO ONE MILLION,FIVE HUNDRED NINTY ONE THOUSDAND DOLLARS (1,591,000) YEAR.....WITHIN FOUR YEARS WE WILL HAVE PAID OVER SIX MILLION, SIXTY FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS (6,364,00)....MOST OF US KNOW WE ARE IN A RECESSION........SO WHY ARE WE ALOWING THIS TYPE OF WASTEFUL SPENDING TO GO ON.... YOU SHOULD ALSO KNOW THAT HER PERSONALL MAKEUP ARTIST AND HER HAIRSTYLIST, WHOM BOTH TRAVEL ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE WITH HER......WHICH BRING HER STAFF TO 24........ IS IT OKAY TO SPEND WILDLY WHEN IT'S NOT YOUR OWN MONEY?????????

I don't know much about politics, but if that is where all our money is going then maybe they should go back to the president having to pay out of pocket for staff.

you would think all the money they made last year, they could afford this themselves. However, I do agree that we shouldnt be paying for a staff for the First Lady unless she is actually holding a position other than in the presidents bed.

I understand that each First Lady has a program that she supports. I am just wondering if at a time like this, maybe her staff should be shaved a bit?

Laglen, the First Lady of the United States may not be an official position but it is an important one. Every First Lady has had a cause...something they promoted. Laura Bush promoted education, Hillary Clinton headed a task force on health reform, Jackie Kennedy had an interest in historic preservation and was responsible for stopping a federal plan to destroy Lafayette Square across from the White House. She also a strong supporter of the performing arts and responsible for the establishment of the National Cultural Center in the nation's capital, which was named after her husband...the Kennedy Center. Every First Lady "earns" her keep.

This is not exactly true, according to snopes.com. While it is true that 24 work for the First Lady, either directly or indirectly, it's not true that Laura Bush had but one person on her staff. Mrs. Bush had between 24 and 26 staffers working for her by the end of her husband's second term, according to Anita McBride, her former Chief of Staff. Lady Bird Johnson, by the way, had a staff of 30. : http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/firstlady.asp

You can believe what you want to about Laura Bush...and any other First Lady...but the facts are out there if you want them. Whether you like it or not, the First Lady is important and she has responsibilities, which means that she needs the assistance of a staff. Some of the First Lady's staff positions are not dedicated strictly to her. It's not like she sits on her butt all day watching the soaps.

I was upset over all the attention that was given to the size of her arms. I wasn't as impressed with them as everyone else was. I've seen sexy women in the gym with impressive looking...errr, everything. I bet Michelle couldn't bench half the weight they can on a good day. But on a serious note,I am a bit shocked about the number of people she has working for her right now. Because of the economy(slowly improving, but improving none the less) it does seem to be an issue worth talking about Are they helping her with the garden? Are they a part of her movement to get kids to be more active? I'm not riled up enough to start typing in all caps, just curious as to what role this group of 24 are playing.

Because she is ugly that's why she needed a hairstylist and a make-up artist. AMong all the first ladies, she is the ugliest of all. Now wonder why she is so trying hard to be a socialite, she have 24 staffs and we all dont know what those 24 people doing to her or what important service does they rendered to the first lady. She is not paralytic so i dont think she needs those 24 staff on her own. No wonder why US is still on crisis right now, the first lady is just like the corrupt officials here in my poor country.

Actually, Jackie Kennedy had 40, Laura Bush had 24-26, Clinton had 20. But why check facts if they might get in the way of another whine about the First Family, right?

Read 'em and weep: http://bit.ly/dpffa1 http://bit.ly/9Finvc You're the one who doesn't know what they're talking about. Here's a free clue: If I make a claim, I can back it up. You, on the other hand, are repeating lies.

nzinky, why do you find it so hard to believe? Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, and every other First Lady have had speaking engagements, events and many other things to attend to. Learn a few things on your own before you make assumptions.

No, it's not okay. I think this administration is taking every opportunity possible to fleece the American people. After all they are in power and it is theirs for the taking as long as no one is powerful enough to stop them, why not? Such arrogance and dishonesty.

NO! it is not ok to spend like this. Just cuz she happens to be married to the prez doesn't give her any special accomodations as far as child care, make up people or anything else. That is why WE the tax payers do without cuz people like Michelle gets by with being special. I think I'm special and I don't get all that fine stuff. I still think the administration needs to stop this kind of spending.

I really don't care how many staff each of the First Ladies had...anything more than a handful is too many. We have a deficit to overcome, let's start at the top and work our way down.
