Time Travel

Do you think that time travel is possible? I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, I know that certain forms of time travel are possible and do happen. On the other hand, I feel that if legitimate time travel were possible, we would be completely aware of it by now. I'm willing to bet that at some point in the future, if time travel is possible, someone will get hold of it and use it for nefarious purposes. This aside, time travel would easily be the most dangerous and complex technology that man has ever created. There are a million and a half paradoxes that could be possible if this were a reality, so I'm not sure that the active forces in the universe would allow for it to happen. What do you think on the subject?

Hello As per theory of relativity it is possible, bet yet to be realized in practice, there are many movies based on this and i have read books on such hypothetical journeys.. Thank you so much for this nice post, cheers God bless you. Prof

you what my motto is whats done cannot be undone.. thats how we learn our lesson in life.. but its so funny... i hoping for that too..you know.. if we can have time travel to the past..it will be great..but its hard to defeat time you know... every seconds of our life means something, every seconds is ready to change our future... so dont worry if we cannot get to it just think about every decision we will make..hundreds times...so that you will have no regrets.. after all its all because of us...why we are like this now

I'm interested in which forms of time travel you're aware of that happen!

Well there was an experiment done where NASA set two atomic clocks to exactly the same time, then left one on earth and put one on a shuttle that went into space. The one in space was four minutes ahead of the one on earth.

4 minutes? wow...so wouldn't that affect every shuttle mission that went up there? sounds like a big margin for error in a critical moment of a shuttle flight..

Yeah, exactly. It's a very curious matter. It could just be the work of magnetic fields or gravitational forces though, for all we know.

I think, according to relativiy, the fast you travel through space, your time slows down relative to everything else in the univere. This would see to make it possible to travel into the future. But then I don't think you can travel back in time.

I think that would be awesome, although we'll have to wait a couple of hundred years in order for this to happen, and even if humans do discover how to time travel, I think that it would be too dangerous to do that, simply because it takes a humongous amount of energy to do that kind of travel. Also, what if a person gets stuck in the time travel zone. The person would most probably be stuck between dimensions forever. Still, it would be cool to just time travel to the past or future for experimental purposes only.

From a theoretical point of view, time travel is a completely plausible notion. It really comes down to the ability to bend and manipulate the space that surrounds us; and this has already been successfully demonstrated in small ways, apparently. The ability to do so on a larger scale, however, would require more energy than can possibly be created; so it's not really possible on a practical level. The grandfather paradox is a great example of how time travel would play absolute havoc. If you were to go back in time and kill your grandfather, you would ultimately stop yourself from being born. If you weren't born, you couldn't go back in time to kill your grandfather. If you couldn't go back in time, your grandfather wouldn't be killed, so you'd be born; and you'd be able to kill your grandfather. And so it goes on and on and on.

Who knows? It might be and it might not be. I guess, time will tell.

For me time to travel is not safe way of your life if you go end in your travel without injuries then it is time for your safe.

Oh, boy, time travel is something that is nice in fiction. However, in real life, I do not see it happening. There will just be too many logical paradoxes that would happen even by going in time. Perhaps it is a good idea that it appears to be impossible in real life. There would be someone who would do something that could cause all of human existence to just collapse against itself. Even as an observer, you run the risk of something happening. I mean, sneeze and you could spread germs to something that was not supposed to be killed. I mean, strictly speaking, killing just one insect could alter all of human history and could have some implications. Providing everything does not just get destroyed. So I think while it might seem interesting, its not a good idea. You just know something like time travel has too great of a potential to be abused.

According to Einstein special relativity theory, you can only travel in the future, so we will be aware of it when we will be able to time travel ! And as you will be able to travel only in the future, 99.9% of the million and a half paradoxes will not apply. Sad for sci-fi writers .

I have quite mixed feelings as well on this subject, if legitimate time travel was possible, i believe it would not be used as a way to change anything, that would be too dangerous, but also you got to think, if humans have ever figured out time travel, we would know now, and then the whole universe would collapse because of a huge paradox.

If we can astral travel, why not time travel. Awesome stuff!

Of course not, hehehhe! But who knows one day we could use time travel. I would love to go back to my past and undo things i regret in my present life. Well, if you believe it could be possible then don't stop believing, there is nothing impossible to GOD WHO IS OUR SOURCE OF WISDOM.

It depends on you.If you believe on it, then it could be possible in some ways on how you conceive it. But who knows one day, time travel can really be possible.

Traveling through time would be an awesome adventure. The movie Back to the Future is my vision of time travel. It would be outstanding if we could travel in time but be guaranteed that we could find our way back home. It would be an adventure and a risk.

Theoretically, it is possible by the theory of relativity, but the condition necessary required for a time travel is quite impossible for a practical life as for today's technology and knowledge. I can't say it is possible or not, but i think trying to make this time machine is just a waste of time. Whatever it is, i don't think they can interact with one another in different times because if it were so, many people will be here who came from the future. Anyway, it is just a matter of a man traveling faster than the speed of light.

I am pretty mixed about this subject as well. I just don't see how long term time travel could happen! Maybe I am just small minded, but I just have to say probably not possible in our lifetime.
