We can't deny, children don't watch cartoon. I'd like to say here, cartoons are artificial, imaginary. They are not fit into real life. So it will surely effects child mind. It's time to make a change in cartoon. They should make it real fit to real life. There are some thing , just like flying in the sky from one building to another..it has negative effect in child. They think it real. They starts doing things like that...so it's bad. Good things, they can learn, much more from cartoon. Because they can see..eyes and brain working together.. What do you think about cartoon? your opinion...

I have always watched cartoons from the time I was a child. My favorites were Loony Toons, Tiny Toons, Flintstones, Jetsons, and Tom and Jerry. I never believed they were real. Today my nieces and nephews watch cartoons, and they know they're not real. The thing is, you have to be the one to tell them the cartoons are not real. Children are a lot smarter than adults give them credit for. Plus it is a fact that movies are more likely to impress upon a child than a cartoon.

hi, fire, all kids love to see cartoon. Yeah , we have to guide them while watching. We have to say them, it's not real. So it's good for them. So they will not do the same what they see and watch in the cartoon. -vine.

Hey vine! I can see your point! But, I remember as a child when I used to watch cartoons that I didn't think like that! Maybe it is because the kids of today are alot more wordly and smarter than we were as kids! We didn't have computers and access to things that the children of today have and maybe that is why we just watched the cartoons and enjoyed them for what they were without thinking about anything else or trying to make them into more than what they were! We just weren't smart enough to take them to the next level like the kids of today are! Maybe it was better in "my day" where we had nothing else to compare them to or nothing else to think about but what we were watching! How sad that really is when I think about it! Life was alot more simple back in the day, at least "my day"!

i think they have already started changing....i have seen many cartoon these days teaching children good manners, way of behaviour, different patterns are seen also...comedy ones...so i think they are ok...some which show super powers....they are also entertaining, but parents should guide their children that they are only for fun...and not real...so children can understand.

I think cartoon shows on TV is pretty amazing stuff because it can entertain young and adults alike. Bu is do agree that children has specific needs and we can't just let the cartoons corrupt their young minds. The TV producer should provide quality content to the viewers especially if the viewers were targeted on kids. They can make cartoon character that has a plot of good values and attitudes so that the kids can follow it. The show must have themes like children obeying their parents, helping household chores and studying school lessons in home. Actually when it concerns about kids many things can be incorporated.

I actually don't think that there is anything wrong with cartoons the way that they are right now. One of the most important parts of being a child is to develop your imagination and to explore the world around you. Seeing things on cartoons that are clearly not real allow children to explore things that are outside the boundries that they might normally conform to. I don't think that seeing someone flying is going to make a child try to do this, I instead think that it will encourage them to imagine what it might be like.

Cartoon are meant for children and kids because they are made to be cute, and of course funny.. And what makes kids laugh from those cartoons are those out of usual movements, sound effects being made from the shows.. haha =D Just like those chasing around, and being runned over by car, becoming a pancake on the road etc, it's all part and parcel of effects, while kids all know that, it's impossible to be still alive in real life.. haha =D Of course, parents must play a part and be teaching their kids, about the dos and donts in life..

Cartoons never hurt me as a child and I was born in the mid-50's when cartoons were violent--but they also used good humor and were genuinely funny. The characters smacking each other, blowing each other up, etc. was healthy. It let children project their own feelings onto the characters--if they were bullied at school or mad at their mom, they could imagine that person being Wile E. Coyote who always became a victim of his own weapons. Cartoons back then allowed children to express their anxieties--they could talk to their mom about what they just saw, they could laugh about it or ask questions and mom would take the chance for a life lesson. Today, I think cartoons are bad. Instead of presenting children with opportunities to express themselves and work out their problems, they are stories with messages. Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't allow children to have the fantasy and expression that the old ones did.

I like animation movies, like Ice Age, Kung Fu Panda etc. Children love cartoons, however, we must be selective too as not all cartoons are good for kids. There are some cartoon contents that are not appropriate for kids. As parents, we must choose which cartoons are funny and appropriate for kids, and we must explain that it is not real. I remember that there was a 3 year-old kid who jumped from his apartment after he watched Bugs Bunny, it was a long long time ago. That`s why we should be more selective in choosing cartoons for kids

But what about my nephews? They like watching cartoons. They like drawing cartoons in the paper. They became good at it. They even won contests in school. They even won in government sponsored contests in the province, and now competing on national level. I think, there is good and bad in every thing. It's up to the parents how they will mindset their children about what they see in TV.

only if your child is a moron to start with. I grew up with Tom and Jerry and never once thought of strapping a rocket to my back so i can fly, or hitting everyone with an iron. I knew that it was all fake and knew I could not do that. unless your child has a reality problem there shouldnt be an issue with cartoons.

I think that cartoons are very entertaining, and should not show real life because it is nasty and brutal and do not have small kids to know the truth about it.

I agree on your view. If there are no parents to guide those child while watching they will be thinking that they can do it too. Like Superman. Superman is like a hero on every child's eye. If they will buy his costume and wear it they will think they already transform to Superman too and they will do all that Superman can do. Of course it is impossible that a child can fly but he will what it takes to be similar with Superman. IF there are parents who guide the children while watching the cartoons, they will believe that they can do what their hero can do. It is important that parents explain that Supper is just a product of creative Imagination.

Cartoons are not bad for children. While enjoying watching cartoons they can pick the language and learn how to pronounce English words properly. My nephew is an avid fan of cartoon. He is only 5 years old and speak fluent English no difference from the native speakers.

Cartoons can make kids learn something easily and also make them enjoy. But some cartoons has some actions and kids shouldn't those in home and also they shouldn't be influenced by the action type cartoons. Cheers Kids

There are no bad effects of watching cartoons if the child is taught at in early age the difference between make believe and reality. I have watched cartoons since I was a child, and I dont recall ever experiencing any negative effects, in fact I love cartoons and the art of drawing in fact I'm a bit of an artist myself and watching cartoons as a child only made me more creative, and animation still inspires me to this day. in fact I made my avatar pic and I have other creations like this in my profile, so as I said there are no negative effects of watching cartoons on a child unless the parents are not present or they never sit down with there kids and explain the concept of make believe.
