I once told a niece of mine if you finish your school year with honors i will give you a gift. Now that their school year is over i received news that she finished it as the top student in their class. Now im in danger lol i need to figure out something to give her, and the problem is i dont know what to give an incoming 5th grader girl as a reward for her job well done in school. Can you please help me out?

Hello Setsuna,
I have been in that situation as well,I promised my nephew that if he does well in school & finish it with flying colors then I will give him a reward...& so he does ( he got motivated with the promise).& I thought i'm going to give him something that he really like & would always remind him whenever he sees it that because of his hard work he got that reward..I ask his mom (my sister) what he really love/like to have & so I did get him what he wished for ( Ben10 collection) and until now he always tells everyone how he got that & promised everyone that he will strive more harder again in school....( i guess he is thinking, he will get more )...well anyway setsuna friend...you can ask your niece mom what she really wanted & maybe you can give that instead....have a great day!

Actually i asked my niece what is it that she wants and then she told me she wants to have the first book of harry potter. Im surprised to hear that at her young age she really likes reading books already. So i will have to go to the bookstore this coming week to buy her the first book of harry potter. And i will surprise as well by dinning with her and in a local fastfood in our place that kids do love.Im just so glad and honored that she achieved this much and she even thanked me for the motivation that i gave her. Im one proud uncle

I suggested this because you can give her plenty of fun by way of some entertainment for aday but you would do thsi otherwise too. These books are soemthign which she should always cherish if she has a reading habit. If not, you must take this opportunity to start it .

Thank you. I would suggest that you must give her books that would suit her real age and reading comprehension[some mystery books of Enid Blyton or so].She is asking for Harry Potter but , apart from reading , that would also be for showing off to her friends rather than real reading of the book. You can still give it to her so that she would keep it for long and read it later. But add some small mystery books to this.

Shes asking me to give her bracelet and a book a harry potter book. I told her you should be patient reading that one because it can be very boring too . Then she looked at me and told me uncle dont you trust your princess hahaha. She can really make my day so good hahaha whenever shes doing those small tricks that makes me feel so light and makes me smile alot. And thank you for the suggestion as if you read her mind lol . Have a great day my friend

Hey Setsuna dont worry my friend. This is an easy one. Fifth graders are at the age where they want to be cool and hip and not looked at as a baby. I would take her for a girls day. Ask her what she would like. I have done this before. It was my god daughter. I called her and asked her if she was free on Saturday to hang out since she did so well in school. I told her did she have any ideas of what she wanted. We spent the day together shopping at random stores. Ive also went the other way and given crazy boxes. This is the cheaper way to go. She'll love it. Find out what she's into and fill a box or gift bag with things that go along with her hobby. If you dont know what she's into, go to a dollar store and buy her a bunch of things like body wash, nail polish, her own shampoo/cond. Brush hair stuff. Buy her a little bag at Walmart and fill it with things that little girls always envy about big girls. Thank heavens for dollar stores. dl

You just nailed it with that one. She dont want to be treated like a baby anymore when im doing so shes always complaining uncle im old enough! I always tell her you will always be my pretty baby hahaha. She will be frowning and then smile hahaha.I just love the way she play tricks on me its as if shes my own daughter already. How i wish when i have my own daughter she will be as lovely and kind and intelligent as this favorite niece of mine. Thanks for the tip and sharing your time with me have a great day!

Thats actually one of the things that im thinkin bout too. Kids nowadays will be happy even if you just give them a piece of your attention or time to let them play with some of their friends or dine in a popular fastfood chain that will surely make her day. And not to mention also motivate her to be better next time. Thanks for sharing and have a great day

You can buy him popular child book, so he will love to read.
A girl at his age tend love to look pretty you can buy him dress or pair of new shoes or cute sandals.
You can look from his daily life what he like most book or clothes.
I hope it helps.

Im also thinking bout that option, i mean im looking for a movie thats pretty much light that she will be able to appreciate alot. Like i cant take her and see clash of the titans she will be screaming in fear with those action stunts and all and she wont appreciate them lol .I also thinking about taking her in an amusement park so that she will be able to mingle with kids and her friends too

I know thats why im saying it will be pretty much hard for me to choose a good movie for kids because theres no child friendly movies shown in town lately. So i might just go for dvd's and buy her some stuff or food then we can watch together and have fun. Or maybe i will just take her to the mall and stroll her until we both drop lol

yes, but i think Clash of Titans is not a appropriate movie for her, you see the idea or theme of Clash of Titans is about the Clash of the god and goddesses of the Ancient Greece and i think she will not understand the movie, try to pick another where she can relate

Take her to do something fun or get her an inexpensive (but grown up looking) necklace or watch?

Im really thinking bout giving a an additional price indeed. And that would be what you just mentioned an inexpensive necklace the kind that small girls like her loves to wear every now and then.

Hahaha i just cant help it but to smile your suggestion i mean a incoming 5th grader wont be able to appreciate a remote controlled car or helicopter for that matter. Well if its me that time i might be able to like it, but the thing is shes a she and girls are not fond of toys such as cars and helicopters. Good suggestion though only if the one you will be giving it is a boy ;)
