I'm looking to find new ideas for my crafting. I love to make things that are functiuonal and thought if I could combine that with recycling I would really be happy. So instead of googling it I thought that I might turn to mylot as this is wher eI seem to find some of the more creative mind sof the world. So what little crafts or tips can you share with me. Please even if you think it is stupid I still want to hear it. Who knows it might not be stupid to the rest of us.

i shred old clothing to make 'stuffing' for stuffed crafts (like teddy bears, dolls etc) rather than buying expensive batting or official 'stuffing' that comes in bags and are so expensive for nothing.
other things you can upcycle are cheap utensils...if they bend easily, they can be twisted into interesting shapes to be used in crafts. tines of forks can be bent individually to form 'fingers' or layers 'lines', for example.
you can also make all sorts of soft toys out of socks. baby socks make wonderfully cute things! :)

those old demon plastic bags can be crocheted into things, mats for the door or even tote bags...
I took some tops to extra long pillow cases and made totes out of them, including a shirt I had gotten from freecycle that was too small for any kind of NORMAL sized person to wear and used it to make the straps and the decorations on the tote.

Last weekend I saw a purse made out of old newspapers. So I am going to try to make them. You take clear contact paper that you use for lining cupboards and put over the newspaper then you can cut your design and sew it together....I am going to use our local paper with some of the pretty pictures from the lifestyles section and sell them at my next craft fair.
