Blog Vs. Article

I want to write about my interests and like to share things I learn. Other than Mylot and essays and other projects for my classes, I have not done any writing. But I really want to start writing.
My question to all the writers and blogger out there is how should I start? Should I start with opening a blog of my own or start submit article in AC or Helium?
My another question is which one(blog or submitting article) will benefit me regarding earning? I would really like to earn something for my work and time.
Please help me with your valuable advise. Also I would like to hear your experiences with writing or blogging. Thank you all!

I would prefer blog because you can get more visits than articles on articles directories, i wrote some articles in several articles directories and it takes too munch to promote the articles. And if you start with a blog, you will work only for promoting one blog and a thousand of articles.
For beginners, i suggest you to use Blogger, for others Wordpress is my favorite!

Thanks for your advice. I also think blog would be more convenient for me. You are right, promoting our work is the important thing.

I'm going to disagree with the others if you want to make money with your writing. Associated Content or Helium will pay you long before you can make money with a blog. Blogs can be good money makers but it takes awhile to get one going. It takes a lot of content and readers to make it pay well. Sites like Associated Content will pay you monthly. You can do well if you promote your articles and write well and often.

I understand that it is good if you can write for AC or Helium, but I think as a beginner in a blog i would get more freedom than any writing site. Sure I will try for AC and other writing sites after getting some experience with blogging. Thanks for your advice peavey!
