The Ampatuans throw their support to Noynoy and Mar

Only in the Philippines...
Datu Unsay Ampatuan called a press conference yesterday to announce that the he has been authorized by the entire Ampatuan clan behind the candidacy of Noynoy and Mar. They claim that they will only get justice from a yellow administration.
Since everyone is presumed until proven guilty, should Noynoy and Mar accept the support? How should they Noynoy and Mar handle these kinds of defections to their camp? Noynoy already said that perhaps this is a joke. But doesn't that mean that he has made his judgment on the Ampatuans before they have been found guilty?

I don't think the whole party of Noynoy and Mar likes the Ampatuans to support them. Who would want to be supported by someone with a very bad reputation? It would ruin their chances of winning.

Hello angelajoy,
Who would be stupid enough to recognize they're support when they have support of every party in the country. well, in a way they have a bit ruined their chances even know the media is always portraying that they're number one. he has a lot of issues that actually he hasn't really answered and then he back out on debates

In that case, the Ampatuans also ruined Villar's chances since he supported Villar first, and after being rebuffed by Noy, went right back to Villar.

It's right that everyone is considered innocent unless proven guilty but the case of the ampatuans is different. As far as i'm concerned they're as guilty as hell and they're trying to use their power to make themselves proven innocent. And i think they're easily winning.

To be fair to them, they have not been in convicted in the eyes of the law, just before the bar of public opinion. Although I am a firm believer of due process, I can't seem to associate innocence with this clan. Like you, I can see that their power and money seems to be working for them.

Justice is blind. All you need to have is a good lawyer and you can easily get out of a tight situation. More often, cases were dismissed because of technicalities. In a court battle, it's not a matter whether you are telling the truth or not, it's how you present the evidence that will determine the outcome of the case. Even if you are telling the truth if your lawyer is lousy, there's always the likelihood of losing it. Another option is to delay the case, this way it will become a fight on who has enough resources to last the distance. This is what the ampatuans are doing now. The last resort is to kill the complainant or the witness.

And here I thought that killing was always the Ampatuans first option... silly me.

For me, i think this is just a diversion tactic of the ampatuans and whoever is supporting him and his evil works! when people thinks of noynoy as a supporter or who receives support or even funds from the ampatuans, it could cause him to lose the position to his next greatest rival...

He's probably bored in prison so he thought he could do a stand-up routine. It's a good joke actually, on him that is. I think now he realizes that he has no credibility. That actually sobered him up. Now he is sulking and has gone back to endorsing Villar.

i also do not believe in the Ampatuans defection. the first time one Ampatuan, the one under the NBI before, wearing a Villar band on his wrist, only means that he supports Villar. the siding of the Ampatuans to Noynoy and Mar is really a big joke, in my opinion.

could be the connection up there that made him powerful that even behind bars he could make things happen.

hello advocate,
he just wants a way out so he decided to send his support hoping he will get something in return. apparently, the Nationalista Camp refuses his support so he would just go to the Liberal Party camp? What's Is he insane? what can he do? how he would explain the people that they should vote for him?
One thing they are in common though. Ampatuans are for Maguindanao Massacre and Aquinos are for Hacienda Luisita Massacre. hee's just fooling around, who's gonna support him,

At least in Noynoy's case, he was not present when the massacre happened. Neither did he and his clan plan with so little regard for human life, a massacre. There lies a huge difference. Semantics does not put them in the same boat.

Clearly the Ampatuans are now becoming 2010's biggest jokers. Their family are like political lepers now, everybody's scrambling to get out of their bandwagon. They have been used to power so long that they still think that their endorsement is still good for something. I did not know that Unsay is such a good stand-up comedian!

I did see the posters of support in Maguindanao. How do we know they did not terrorize the people to put those up? Line them up and threaten them like the Mangudadatu women and journalists. It has obviously worked for them for decades. I think these supporters are the people who have nowhere to turn to except them. Slave mentality.

Noynoy and Mar has not accepted the Ampatuans' support. And true, only in the Philippines can you see a person who has been incarcerated call for a press conference. In other countries, it would be their lawyer that will read whatever it is that they have to say in public. Here, not only has Ampatuan been able to call and hold a press conference, the whole thing was covered by the media and aired on national television. It only shows how much freedom these guys have even after being "jailed".

I was surprised too. I thought that he was going to make announcement as to the latest DOJ resolution dismissing the indictments against his brothers. Instead, he only commented on them as an aside. He wanted to announce his support to Noynoy. Why was that more important than his brothers' good news (notice that I said that the news is only good to his brothers). What kind of distorted values does this guy have?

It made me laugh about hearing that news just this morning. That is just a tactic of Gloria Macapagal to make the survey of Noynoy became weak because she really supports Manny Villar for the win. Noynoy is just not pro for Ampatuans. When he said No Thanks it means he don't like the Ampatuans to support him but he is not judging the Ampatuans. Anyhow the Ampatuans are really guilty of the crimes they committed, no question asked.

I think everyone here has been saying that although a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty, this does not apply to the Ampatuans. LOL I know that's not nice, but really, can anyone say innocent to the Ampatuans with a straight face?

Noynoy Aquino already close his doors to the Ampatuans. I just cannot understand this clan, just a week ago they are endorsing Manny Villar, and now that they sensed Noynoy continues to soar high on surveys and the man who would likely most to win this election, they shifted their support to him. I am certain Noynoy and Mar would never accept the endorsement.

I don't think anybody understands them. I was actually wondering if he is still in his right mind. He has probably lost touch with reality so much that he has now moved into his very own Wonderland. He is probably being fed lies by his lawyers and supporters. He still thinks that his word has weight in the Philippines.

when I heard this on the news yesterday, I was literally dumbfounded. imagine what Noynoy and Mar must have felt when they heard the news. I guess this would test them on how they stand with the national issues.

It is said that one is innocent until proven guilty, but in the Ampatuans' case, many people think they are guilty. With regards to Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr. press conference of the whole Ampatuan supporting Noynoy and his picket, I heard from the news that Noynoy declined the offer and said "No thank you" and that the supposed endorsement as a "big joke." It's wise of Noynoy to decline the offer since many people are angry at the Ampatuans and it will greatly affect the outcome of the votes if he ever accepts it because many see the Ampatuans as villains and murderers.

Why is it that as a general rule it is always good to welcome additions to a political party, but not in the case of Ampatuans? They have tarnished their image possibly to oblivion by the massacre. I doubt that they will ever get back the support that they once enjoyed. Did they not see the signs or were they too blinded by power?

I think the Ampatuan clan as what the news spreads, is an ally of the Arroyo administration. There are also issues that say Villar and Arroyo have secret alliance so that led me to a conclusion that it is their agenda to bring Aquino down.

It's actually a good plan to discredit Aquino, except for the fact that they used a lunatic to do that. Who will believe that? They actually generated more press for Noynoy instead of bringing him down.

This ampatuan clan is really a good player in politics, they endorsed Noynoy and Mar to be able to get justice from this party. I saw in the news that Noynoy said maybe it was a joke but it has a big impact on the liberal party specially the supporters someone endorsed by a man such him.

Personally I think they are great jokers. Really, at this stage, they would think of such mundane things as endorsement after what happened? Even assuming that they had nothing to do with the massacre (like anybody believes that), but it happened in their backyard! I see no outrage in their part.

Well what is so mysterious about this is who arranged prisoner from endorsing a candidate with all the media and that sorts of things. I think no one would want to be endorsed by that infamous name after what they did. So I think there is only one purpose for this block propaganda against the Noynoy-Mar campaign and nothing more.
If you would also notice that several days before when they interviewed him he was openly campaigning for Villar.

Yes, he was sporting an orange baller a few days ago. He is shopping for a candidate who will come out and say that we will give "justice" to you, the same kind of justice handed out by Sec. Agra. Everyone's running away as far away as they can. Since Noynoy refused his offer, he has returned to endorsing Villar now.
Where did he get his baller by the way?

I was kinda laughing about this a little earlier because the Ampatuan clan is pretty much Gloria v2.0 with regards to supporting political candidacies.
By which I mean, whoever they support will most likely drop in ratings due to GMA and the Ampatuan clan's notorious infamy. With the Ampatuan family's strong ties to the GMA government, it's like a neon sign saying, "We want Noynoy to lose! See us support him (in the most facetious way possible) so you'll vote for someone else and give us the desired outcome we want!"
If I were Noynoy, I'd give a statement with something along the lines of, "Anyone can support my candidacy if they want; I have no power to denounce anyone's choice when it's their given right to choose who to vote for and support," because he's a politician, and politicians demand a certain amount of diplomacy. Then maybe say something about how, in the event he wins, he will try his best to provide the justice everyone is hoping for, in the swiftest and most transparent way possible.
Since, while it's true that everyone's innocent until proven guilty, in the end, it's the evidence that matters. If the case is presented as transparently as possible, I'm pretty sure the justice everyone's hoping for won't be that elusive.

I was actually laughing while watching Noynoy's remarked on that issue. When he said 'No, thanks.' While every politicians are clamouring for supports from major political clans or districts and even his sister Kris Aquino who have talked with a religious leader in Davao, Noynoy just dropped the supports of the Ampatuans. Anyways, who would really wanted to be endorsed by criminals even if they have not yet been found guilty. I think it will definitely affects Noynoys popularity.

So now they are using the candidacy of Noynoy and Mar that we all know are decent person? They are asking for justice? Stupid people will only believe in them. I believe that Noynoy and Mar wont be tempted by there support. The clan was a killer and they shouldn't be walking around the Philippines because they are a big threat for us.

I think prison has addled his brain. He really believes that he has the power to sway votes from behind bars. I was watching the expression of the journalists when they covered him, and they were all looking at him like he was crazy. Well, he is anyway, thinking that he still has the power.

The other day I saw him in the news wearing an orange baller band meaning he's supporting the candidacy of the other presidential aspirant and now, he has changed support. Isn't it he realized that Noynoy has more supporters and might win the presidential elections and thinking Noynoy could help him in his case? Dream on, Ampatuans! He's like a fruit we call "Balimbing" in Tagalog. LOL

I heard Noynoy or his camp said "No thanks". Ampatuan really lost his mind. Support is asked from someone who has a "good" influence and logically, good reputation follows. Is he not aware that anyone he will support will be unfavorable?
