lumanman well usually it depends on my friend but with casual friends I p;ay for myself and myfriend does the same thing. but sometimes with my best friend she would treat me and refused to let me pay my half which was nice as I did not really have that much money. but I have treated her too.

Usually, we each pay for our own. In the past, I always tried to get the bill and pay for it. But because of my finances now, I don't offer to do that much anymore. Unless the person has less than I do, which is rare. So I guess you could say we go Dutch. And I always wondered where that phrase came from. People paying for their own share, calling it going Dutch.

Hi AmbiePam, I usually treat my friends with lower finance like I was treated before when I was the lower.I think this is one of the meaning of friend.
This is 1st time for me to see the the phrase"Go Dutch!", I just say "split it" or "AA" before. I also wondering where it came from? haha......

I have a friend with which I go out for dinner once in a while. She is my roommate and we follow a procedure. Once she pays the bill, the next time I pay that bill. Till now there is no problem and it continues. We don't mind minor variations in the bills she and I pay. Once in a while we give treats if there is a reason. She got a new job recently and she treated me for that.
