I do totally miss the show. I watched it from the beginning and absolutely fell in love with it sometime in season two. Probably right around when Spike showed up. I'll agree that the comics aren't the same, but I've long since come to terms with the fact that, well, nothing's gonna be quite the same as that show. The character development that Joss Whedon and his writers were able to accomplish is something that I truly valued and appreciated. Given the knowledge that it's simply not in existence in the same way, I've decided that the comics are swell. Not the same, no. But every once in a while, especially in this most recent arc written my Brad Meltzer, the voices really will pop and you can hear the actors saying the words and it's exactly right and there's a bit -- just a bit -- of that old magic in my life again.

right now, i'm on the ark where the slayers become the villains then they went to oz for help.
i don't really read up online since i don't like spoilers. i only check out when the latest compilation would come out since here in the philippines, it's pretty hard to look for season 8 comics.

Where are you in the story right now? I've only ever gotten the individual issues, so I'm not sure where the compilations are up to at this point.
Yeah, this past arc was really cool. I'd advise against looking online for a while because there's a very big reveal in the second issue of the arc, and then another nice little twist at the very very end of the fourth issue of the arc. Those are, I believe, issues # 33 and # 35. If you go to chat rooms or message boards, it's almost guaranteed that these reveals will be spoiled.
As far as Brad Meltzer, yeah, he got the voices down better than most non-show writers. I'm not a comics guy, so I didn't know his work before, but apparently he's huge in the comics world. He's clearly a very big geek, and so not surprisingly, he spent a lot of time in his arc writing Xander and Andrew. There are so many fun geek-out/comic book reference moments. It was just so much fun.

yeah, i'd want to see a buffy movie too. but a more serious one than the first one. and one where the tv cast is on it.

they are going to make a buffy movie---without whedon and the original casts in it. it will be a remake of that ugly movie. sucks, i know!

It was a good show. I just don't know where they could continue with her character. I do think ANGEL the spinoff was cut short.

I definitely miss it. I have all 7 seasons on DVD and the first 3 collections of the comic books (which contain the first 15 issues). It's not the same though as you said. I still watch the episodes every now and then and plan to show some of my friends the entire series who I think would be interested in it. I wish that Angel had gotten to finish and it would have if Joss hadn't rushed the WB to make an early decision on whether to renew it or not for a 6th season. I grew up watching the show and it was amazing.

i soooo miss it. a lot!!! comic books cant replace it. i mean, i want the action. did you hear that they are coming up with the movie without the original cast and the original story? thats soo annoying. they will do a remake of that ugly buffy movie.

what? i didn't know about that. if that's the movie that they're gonna make, i'd rather stick to the comics that's in resemblance with the original cast. the original buffy movie sucked and there's no point in doing a sequel or a remake of that. not now that we've seen buffy's full potential.

My brother is watching the episodes again on DVD so I might watch it again, or at least some of it. Ironic, literally a few seconds before I opened your response in the mail, he was talking to me about Buffy.
