Over population is one of the major problem in the world. Every country are aware of it. But china population is increasing very fast. How can they handle.
Will they shot peoples by guns?
(The secret is that, china thinks, they can use their people in the war. It's a past..thinking is old...i think it reveals from the 2nd world war..they need more people to fight..so they need more people...but now world has changed..technology...now roborts can fight..you can fight sitting inside from your home computer..people are not needed in future war)
So i think, people will really in trouble in future china.

Growing population is a world problem.
China is actually the only one who did something about it by restricting couples to one child.
But they waited too long. And yes, they will have big problems.
But so will everybody else.
We'll first run out of water, and then will run out of food.
China is already building housing on its farm land.
In 30 years time, China won't have enough land to produce food for its population.
Australian politicians want to increase Australia's population from 20 million to 50 million. This is being done in the name of greed.
Australia don't have enough water for 20 million, much less for 50 million.
Politicians should be required to take a brain scan before entering politics.
And this is pretty much the same story all around the world.
Africa has been starving for decades because of lack of water.
Add to that the climate change, and you have humanity on the path of self destruction.

Brain scans and IQ tests for politicians should be the order of the day. Down to earth people who must work and earn a living often know more about managing day to day life.

If the theories that in 40 years global warming will dry out farmlands and force people to migrate to more northern and southern areas to escape the dried out farmlands and lack of water we are in trouble. In 40 years the earth's population will have doubled (again) , so we will have an increasing population with a dwindling food and water supply.
Unfortunately talking about population control is not popular and politicians are still stuck in the idea they have to grow cities and population for economic gain.

Hi fried,
China and India both are facing problem of populaion explosion. China has adopted a polcy of one couple one child, which is better than india's policy of "we two ours two(Children). Si china should be in better position to control the population than India.
Both China and India needs to use people centric technology rather than machincentric technology, to mak optimum use of then population. We need to have positive outlook to look our population as asset rather then liability, and should devise ways to maximise their use to increase produxtivity of the nation.

I am especially impressed by the suggestion that these countries should go for people centric technologies..Yes 100%.. but what is happening is that we produce people as we do but ape a living culture that is contrary to the requirement such as we go for mechanisation which do not serve the purpose of feeding the large population.

It already has. Thanks to their government policies, babies are being aborted nearly every day, there is that "2 Children per family" law, and all men must go to war, as for daughters, who cares? China says that are trying to change their ways and be better, but many people doubt this. And by the way, they still haven't freed Tibet.

Limitation to freedom! Are you kidding me? I don't know about you, but I love my freedom. I love being able to choose what I want to do with my life. I love being able to choose my beliefs and choose my career. I love being able to do what I want to do and not be forced into anything that I don't want to do. Yes, there are some people who abuse freedom, and that abuse of freedom is on them, but why should the rest of us have suffer for the few who abuse freedom?
Also, the saying "More people and there will be more power" is not always true. More people can cause more problems, can cause over-population, and can cause uprising if the country is under a dictatorship.
Where does China stand with it all? Does the Chinese government want freedom?

Hi. I don't mean to fight against you for speaking negatively about my country(the war thing), but i highly desire that you can do some research before making negative posts about China in an open community like Mylot. I feel shocked by your way of thinking. "China shoots some people to deal with the overwhelming population"? Does that mean your government shoots people in order to reduce population? You seem to know nothing about my country. China is a democratic country where human rights are highly protected by our law. Our government was established to care for people and guarantee people's freedom and happiness. We never kill someone for no reason. I admit that we have a large population, but our government has been taking effective measures to settle the problem. Our large population is by no means for war, but stemmed from the past population system.

Thanks for your attention, starchaser. I was really offended by his way of talking about my country, espeically what he talked about was wholly nonsense. We are supposed to be friendly to each other and I don't mean to quarrel with him, but honestly I don't like his manner.
China is a socialist country. When I said China is a democratic country, I meant that our Chinese government is a democratic one that shows care for every individual. We're allowed to go the temples, but it's what our government has been doing all the time. Our economy is growing, but there is still a long and hard way ahead as all countries in the world are doing best to cope with the financial crisis that's still there.

Every country is going to have their bad things, Vin. However, I don't tend to judge a country that I've never been to. What about you? Can you prove without a doubt, outside of media and hearsay that China does what you claim?
I have friends who have been to China. Friends who live here in the US, and they had a very good time in China when they went there for their vacation. What about you? Have you ever been to China? Do you have personal experience there?

Over population indeed is a big problem to China.Nowadays, the biggist problem in China is housing price. Major people can't afford a house, so that their parents even their grandparents give all of the money they earned the whole life to child to buy a house.

Thank you moonbutters. This is the first response to me in Mylot. Thank you. I love you. I am very sad to hear that. I hope the economy in your country will recover in the near future from this crisis.
Yes, it indeed is genuine concern for parents to buy a house for their children. But the children have a big pressure, and they think "I couldn't buy a house for myself. what else can I do?" Neither do the children haven't capacity, nor do they don't work hard. The increasing salary is much slower than rising house price. If the Chinese government couldn't control rising house price, there will be a big problem in China.

China does not shoot people to control the population. They do strongly encourage each family to have only one child. What I have read, and understand, is that because many families want that one child to be a boy there are going to be many Chinese men who have no wives. In that case, population will automatically go down. They did not get a large population overnight and the population will not stabilize quickly either. It is an ongoing balancing act.

As far as overpopulation is, the main problem is the distribution of food and the availability of fertile land. If the people were able to grow food where they lived and if not, they could also provide goods to purchase the food, and if there were irrigation, and storage places where they could keep the food without spoiling during the cold seasons, etc. there would not be any problem.
I think in China's case, that like many places there is also a disparity between the rich and poor. It is getting better now, but the rich in some countries keep all the money to themselves and do not help the poor by giving them jobs. But mainly in China, it is the only one or two children rule, has created a country where there are more men then women since it many couples will kill the baby girl at birth or before, so they can have a son.
Too many man with not enough women for them to marry, creates a problem. I can see large armies invading other countries and men with no one to keep track on them when they want to make mischief.
I also think you should not limit population because who do you tell not to have as many children? I am still not over the fact that I was told "well that nice farm family in Africa can have lots of children, but since you are a Canadian city lady, you probably do not love children with the extent she has====" even though I really loved babies and still do

The sleeping giant awakes after so many years under communism, now capitalism is slowly cfreeping back into the mindsets of chinese and with more than a billion people to contribute their respective roles,if managed well China is definitely heading to becoming the richest and powerful country.
I wonder if the free wheeling ways of Shanghai,Honk Kong , and many other cities in China at the turn of the century werent interupted by communism, what will China be like today.
Maybe like India or maybe more powerful and wealthy than the USA is today.!

I don't think it is just a problem within China, but atleast they have taken steps to try and regain some sort of population control.
I think members of the European union are seeing the effects of migrant populations and reproduction too. I live in Southern Spain and because of the immigrants flloding in they have had to invest money in extending schools or building new ones and plans have just gone ahead to build a new hospital no less than five miles away from the existing one.
To be honest I have no idea what the solution is to this.

I can't figure out why you started such a discussion, are you curious or gloating? I'd rather believe that you're curious about China. Because you said quote: to know the truth of China, you have to go to China and talk to the people. Then may I ask you, have you ever been to China and talked to the people? If not, how do you know quote: they show one thing do just the opposite?
By the way, I appreciate your concerns for our country, if it is so.

Hi, kelly.
Or maybe they are just afraid of China's rise? I don't know. I've read a great number of negative comments about China, here in myLot as well.

I agree that overpopulation can trigger trouble in a country as there may not be be enough resources available for everyone so everyone should be responsible enough before deciding to bear a child as it really entails a lot of responsibilities.

I think they are handling that problem very well. They have very strict laws and government there encourage people for having one kid only. There are many people in China who now prefer to be childless. So eventually their population will be stable and start decreasing soon i think.Or may be its already happening there.

I think your right about china wanting a loarge popuaion for war. however I have heard that they are rethinking the one child policy in china. they tryed in the past to curb the pop but now they want to incresse it. this is becase of an ageing population. but how they would handle overpopulation I am not sure of.

It's true that population is a problem in China. It's a large pressure for the government to offer enough jobs. But I don't agree that the population is growing very fast in China. I guess several years later the population of India will surpass that of China. In the future, the trouble the government need to face will be how to handle the fast growing of elder population.

I think, nothing to woory about it since China can sustain its people. In fact, for the past 10 years, their economic growth has jumped and predictions are, time will come, that Chinese economy will conquer the world, not because of much people, but the stability of their economy.
