I need a new phone...

My old cellphone seems to be giving up on me. It had been malfunctioning for the last few weeks and I thought I need to buy a new one, the problem is, there are so many available cellphones in the market now and it's really so hard to choose. Also, I have a very little income and I know that I won't be able to afford those high-end phones. Do you think I have to get one now or later? I use my phone most of the time and since I had it, it seems so hard not to have something like it anymore..

Well what do you have? stick to something your gonna utilize. Dont go all fancy schmancy cause the new one's got cool features, if all u need it Text, and calls any phone should do well. im guessing on ebay 25 dollars or so. and if u go to a store like 40 bucks. you can even get those 30 dollar ones called prepaid and just put your chip in those. it'll have your number and contacts, as long as u saved them to the sim, before u put it in new phone.

yeah thanks, sometimes I get tricked by the new ones because of a lot of new features as well. Sometimes too, what I need and want depends on the available unit in the market. Like, there are phones with wi-fi and I thought I'm gonna be using it so I thought of getting one with wi-fi.

There may be a lot of phones in the market, but most of these are not really created to do the specific function you need from it as a phone. Remember that the main purpose why we have phones in the first place is because we want to communicate efficiently and effectively to people, in the same way that they could reach us whenever there's a need to. Therefore, the basic functionality of a phone is to be called or sent message to and to receive such communication. But what have the marketers and manufacturers done? They have literally made a lot of features that we feel we need but we really don't. Take for example the video-conferencing or 3g functionality, do we really need it? Why not just meet the person? I honestly have a high-end phone and have used that feature less than 10x in its lifetime. Another feature is the internet feature, yeah, it may be amazing but the screen is just too small and without a mouse, just to difficult or uncomfortable to browse with - not to mention the battery life. And so much more. Therefore, if I were you, try to assess, what do you really need in a phone and from there, you could find a unit that best fits your NEEDS rather than your WANTS. Remember that you're in a budget. Lastly, don't but something that you don't really need and is overly priced. Chances are, you could even lose your life because someone else want to take that phone from you. Good luck!

Exactly the point, if funds weren't an issue then I'd go for the best phone and the highest pricing there is. The problem here is the lack of funds, if there's a lack of funds then perhaps you should forgo the 'added features' and go for practicality.

I realize that I need to focus on how I want to use my phone, but the additional new features makes me think that afterall, I might be utilizing the phone more efficiently with those added features. My main problem now would be financing that kind of phone.

Cellphones are getting cheaper everyday, even the high tech ones. I suggest you go for the branded units since as you've said you're using it everyday. You can already get a high end phone for more or less five thousand pesos. But before you buy a new unit, i suggest to have your current cellphone checked up so it can be repaired. That way, you don't have to spend unnecessarily.

I'm afraid these are China phones which were imitations from the high-end phones in the market now. They are not so good in terms of quality and performance.

I think you should buy a new phone, if you have the money to buy one, but not any expensive ones as you probably can't afford those. Just get a phone with the features that you will need and use and no more. I like phones with lots of features, but since I do things online, I like to have a phone that I can on online with when I don't have access to my computer. Take care, and happy mylotting.
