I don't know what's with me and packaging, but there's something. Lol. Anyway, for some reason, I get attracted to an item more if its packaging is really nice.
For example, I'd rather buy a lipstick in a nice plastic packaging with a ribbon, than a lipstick without any packaging. Lol. It just looks nice, so I get attracted to it.
And when I buy stuff, I usually keep the packaging just for the sake of it, because I always hesitate to throw it away. I don't know why. Haha
Like yesterday, I got the shoes and bag that I ordered online. I just expected it to be in the usual courier's plastic pouch, but then the shoes and the bag were covered individually in bubblewrap and some nice paper, so yea. I immediately loved the seller for it (of course the items looked just as good, too). :D
Okay, so enough of my raves. Lol.
So, do you also like nice packagings? I know it's better to look on the inside than the outside, but sometimes it's also good to have the outside look nice. :D

I do pay attention to packaging when I buy products, but probably not in the same way you do. I try to buy products with less packaging. For one thing, products with less packaging or less fancy designs are often less expensive, even though the product itself is probably no different. But more importantly, excessive packaging is not good for the environment. It uses a lot of materials to create packaging(trees for paper packaging and petroleum for plastic), and creates a lot of waste when it is thrown away. Some types of plastic packaging can take thousands or even millions of years to decompose in a landfill. So I try to buy products that use less material for packaging, or that use packaging made from recycled materials. I also look for packaging that can be recycled when I'm done with it.

Oh, gosh, I'm just like you. I am a sucker for great packaging! I'm always attracted to great packaging than what's really inside. I also choose to buy make up products that has nice packaging than those that are not. I can so much relate to you, also when it comes to beauty products like perfume, shampoo, soaps... I always get attracted to cute packagings and when I force myself not to buy it, it haunts me. I also don't like throwing packagings even though I feel like I have to because I don't need it anymore but mostly, I keep the packagings and my mother throw it for me. LOL.

High-five! And yes, I know what you mean when it "haunts" you. Sometimes I really can't stop myself from buying something that has nice packaging, but there are times when I could manage. Lol. And yes! I'm exactly like that! I don't throw away packagings, because I feel like it's a waste if I throw them! And when my mom sees them, she just throws them away. :|

That is kind of bad though because that is how they can get you every single time but also they get you to spend more too, sometimes more than you need to. That is not good if you are trying to stick to a budget. I think it is best that you ignore the packaging side of things especially since most times that stuff ends up in the bin and no one really gets much use out of that. I know how it feels though to be enticed by the packaging and to be seduced by its attractiveness. I even catch myself out sometimes just staring at the pretty things, then I shake myself out of it and tell myself I don't need, its a waste and I deserve to have more money in my pocket. I think it is hard for girls especially or even some gay men who buy all the pretty cosmetics with all the pretty packaging. I know for some people it is addictive too.

It becomes bad if you let it fool you. Of course in buying you still need to check out what's inside, not just the surface. What's wrong is when you buy something merely because of the packaging, and later on you just neglect it (but I'm not like that). And sometimes good packaging promotes recycling and reusing, so yea. It just really depends. Of course you should still be a wise consumer, even if you are easily attracted to packaging. It's better if it's pretty on the outside and has quality on the inside, too. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinion!

Yes I am indeedy! Especially if it is pink in color! I love it when friends give me gifts with cute packaging. I appreciate the thought that they've put all their effort to make the gift really beautiful. I'm an OC when it comes to wrapping gifts. I make sure that my wrapping skills will make the person happy. Perfect ribbon-ing, taping of the sides in alignment and all that are my obsession in gift wrapping. :D

I prefer buying things with good packages. It always fascinate me and tend to forget the inside of it. Basically, when choosing a product, the very first thing the customer would see is the packaging and next is the inside. My point is, when the product has good and attractive packages then that something inside of it is also a good item too.:)

Although packaging is a waste, I must admit great packaging really does catch my eye.
For example, I collect Transformers toys, and some of them are in quite rubbish packaging and they do not appeal to me as much as some of the bigger toys which have brilliant packsging!

Well, jeeyah, you're not a sucker. There are a lot of people out there who study and work hard to design nice packages, it's really good to know their lifes are not wasted!
I love nice packagings too, by the way.

jeeyah oh yes I am also a sucker for an attractive package as opposed to one that is just plain. I guess that is why smart merchandisers use handsome attractive packageing to sucker in us to their product. sometimes the product is as good as it is pretty and yet other times the merchandiser has put a really inferior product in that pretty packaging. so i have tried to break myself of always going to the fancy packages and try to find out what is the best value for the p rice, is it something I have used before and know it is a great product, or something that I have never used before. Usually the one in the plain package is something I do know is a great bargain and a good product. But again there are always exceptions.

I get what you mean, Hatley. Most of the time those great packagings really tend to fool consumers into thinking that they are of high quality. This is why we need to really investigate (lol) or try to see what lies beneath the packaging. It's good that you try to be wise in shopping and go for the products with best value and that have been tried and tested by yourself. ;) But it really would've been better if those products were also in nice packaging. Heehee :D

I'm not fond of a lot of packaging because it seems like such a waste. The more something is packaged, the more the product costs because, of course, we're paying for that packaging, too.
However, if giving or receiving gifts, I love a beautifully wrapped gift. I've seen some so pretty that I didn't want to open them!
I was just shopping yesterday for some wrapping paper and ribbon for a wedding gift I had made for my husband's niece who is getting married May 1st. The gift is beautiful, I think, anyway. It's a heart-shaped piece of glass about five inches tall that sits on a a lighted base. It has etching that was personally done and is a photo of the bride and groom to be, etched in the middle of the glass heart! It's absolutely gorgeous! I thought it needed special packaging so I went out of my way to find (what I considered) the perfect gift wrap.

You have a good point there, but I really don't know why I'm so drawn to products with good packaging. And sometimes the product isn't really that expensive, so yea. :D
Haha, I know what you mean with beautifully wrapped gifts! Actually, when I get some of those, I open it very gently and slowly, then I keep the wrapper and everything else like the ribbon. Haahaha :D
That sounds like a really beautiful gift! I hope you could post a picture of it. ;) And yep, the perfect example of beauty inside and out. Lol :D
Thank you for sharing! :D

Yes, I am too, it makes a huge difference if you ask me! I think it is typical for girls maybe?
If I was selling anything myself, I would really focus on the packaging, I think it is a great way to make a business more lucrative with little means!
